Hong Kong actor-host Mat Yeung’s roast meat eatery Six Hub Roast House in Malaysia has been ordered to suspend operations just 10 days after it opened.
A Facebook video posted today (Aug 24) shows that the roller shutters were down at the 45-year-old’s eatery at Petaling Jaya, Kuala Lumpur.
There were also yellow tape placed across the shutters with a notice pasted on it.
According to a report from Oriental Daily today, photos shared by netizens showed that the restaurant was ordered to close at 1pm.
The notice also stated that the eatery violated certain regulations or licensing conditions for food establishments, and the authorities ordered its closure in the interest of the public.
A spokesperson told Sin Chew Daily that the closure involved the placement of equipment at the eatery and not food hygiene.
They said: “We have a lot of kitchen equipment, so we temporarily put it at the back, which took up some roadside space. Therefore, the authorities asked us to move everything away.”
The eatery also released a statement on their Instagram and Facebook pages today.
It reads: “We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused by our kitchen occupying a public space.
“Following the authorities’ instructions, we will close for two days to make the necessary adjustments and resume normal operations on Wednesday, Aug 26. Thank you for your understanding.”
Mat introduced his roast meat eatery via social media in July, sharing then that it has always been his dream to open such a business and he had worked with chefs to serve Hong Kong-style roast meat, including char siu and crispy roasted pork belly.
The eatery officially opened on Aug 14, with reportedly good business.
He married Malaysian actress-model Lisa Ch’ng in a star-studded wedding ceremony held at JW Marriott Hotel in Kuala Lumpur on Aug 2.
