Marty, Life is Short, a documentary about comedian Martin Short, will premiere on Netflix in May.

Directed by Lawrence Kasdan, the documentary includes never-before-seen archive footage as well as interviews with “some of the most established and beloved stars.” The film is set to debut on Netflix on May 12.

Now a star of Only Murders in the Building, Short rose to fame as a writer and performer on SCTV and appeared in such films as Father of the Bride, Three Amigos, with his longtime collaborator Steve Martin, and Damages. Short also collaborated with Martin on the 2018 comedy special An Evening You Will Forget for the Rest of Your Life, which also debuted on Netflix.

Marty, Life is Short is produced by Sara Bernstein, Meredith Kaulfers, Christopher St. John, Justin Wilkes, Kasdan and Blair Foster. Imagine Entertainment founders Brian Grazer and Ron Howard are executive producers.

Kasdan previously directed films such as The Big Chill and Body Heat and wrote films such as Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Body Guard, The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. The director previously worked with Short on the 1999 film Mumford.

The 75-year-old comedian continues to star in Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building, alongside Martin and Selena Gomez, and says he plans to continue working.

“I’m not a believer in retirement just based on a number,” he told The Hollywood Reporter in June. “It’s designed for people who don’t really like their job and then they want to relax or they’re tired or they just want to do something else. But I like my job.”
