Married At First Sight groom Grayson McIvor has opened up about his instant connection with bisexual bride Julia Vogl.

Speaking to Daily Mail, Grayson, 34, admitted that their wedding felt ‘wholesome’, effortless and emotionally grounding from the very first moment.

‘It was like a breath of fresh air,’ he said. ‘It was exciting to finally see it come to life and just smile.’

‘I was glad it turned out very wholesome. Even more wholesome than I imagined.’

The Queensland company director said there was nothing forced or performative about the day, with both families naturally clicking from the outset.

‘From the get-go, we clicked,’ he said. ‘Nothing was orchestrated. Our families and friends just gravitated towards each other. It was a really good start.’

Grayson admitted the scale of the wedding stunned him, particularly when he realised his ceremony would take place at the Sydney Opera House.

One of the episode’s standout moments was Julia opening up about her bisexuality, something Grayson said never raised concern.

‘I don’t see sexuality as a label,’ he said. ‘I just see the person for who they are.’

‘If there’s a connection, you ride the wave and see where it takes you.’

Grayson said he felt an immediate sense of safety when he first saw Julia walking toward him.

‘When I turned around and saw Jules, I was instantly drawn to her,’ he said. ‘She made me feel safe, warm and comfortable.’

‘That took the pressure out of the moment and let me enjoy the start of the journey.’

Grayson previously revealed he felt something was missing in his life before joining the experiment and said he entered the show with genuine belief it could work.

‘I had a lot of faith in it,’ he said. ‘I really immersed myself and gave everything I had.’

While his focus remained firmly on his marriage, Grayson admitted he didn’t see eye to eye with everyone during the early group events, particularly groom Chris Nield at the bucks’ party.

‘We didn’t align,’ he said. ‘His outlook on relationships and life just didn’t set him up for success.’

However, Grayson said he still believed Chris could find love with the right match.

‘He doesn’t shy away from his opinions,’ he said. ‘With the right chemistry, he could build something meaningful.’

Heading into the first dinner party, Grayson said he and Julia walked in feeling quietly confident as one of the strongest couples.

‘We weren’t buying into all the other nonsense,’ he said. ‘We walked in hand in hand, focused on our relationship.’

While Grayson prefers to avoid unnecessary drama, he admitted he struggles to stay silent when behaviour crosses a line.

‘It’s hard for me to bite my tongue,’ he said. ‘There are times where I question people and hold them accountable.’

‘But I was always protective of my relationship with Julia.’

Trailers show both Grayson and Julia in tears later in the season, something he says reflects how seriously he took the experiment.

‘The tears show how committed I was,’ he said. ‘Whether they’re happy or sad tears, there were definitely a lot of them. We really gave it a good crack.’

Despite being portrayed as one of the season’s early favourites, Grayson said he isn’t worried about how he’s edited.

‘If I was painted as a villain, I’d be confused,’ he said. ‘I know I was there for the right reasons.’

He also dismissed any suggestion Julia was on the show for the wrong reasons.

‘I didn’t focus on her intentions,’ he said. ‘I focused on what I could bring and asked her to be open to wherever the journey takes us.’

As for whether viewers should expect him to steal another bride, Grayson laughed.

‘The bigger question is whether the other boys should be worried about the girls trying to make an impression on me,’ he joked.
