If you like shopping at Marina Square, you may want to visit the mall before it closes on March 31 next year for a major redevelopment.
Upon completion, the area will feature luxury residences, serviced apartments, premium offices, public parks, arts and cultural spaces, as well as sports and wellness facilities, said Singapore Land (Sing Land) on Tuesday (Sept 1).
Three new towers will be integrated with the site’s three existing hotels: Pan Pacific Singapore, Parkroyal Collection Marina Bay and Mandarin Oriental Singapore — while the four-storey Marina Square mall will undergo an overhaul.
Connectivity in the area will also be improved, with a continuous sheltered walkway on the first floor and an elevated botanical loop linking the development to One Raffles Link, Millenia Walk, Suntec City and the upcoming NS Square.
The redevelopment is slated for completion in 2031, and the three existing hotels will remain open throughout the reconstruction.
New hospitality experiences, premium workspaces
In addition to the existing hotels, the redevelopment will introduce a hotel with 304 rooms and a serviced apartment block with 260 units.
The new hotel will will occupy the fourth to 10th floors of a 19-storey mixed-used block, alongside shared spaces for networking, events and social interaction.
Meanwhile, the 24-storey serviced apartment block will cater to longer-stay guests and offer panoramic views towards Marina Bay and Bay East Garden.
Operators for both facilities have yet to be appointed, Sing Land said.
The mixed-use block will also house premium Grade A offices on its 12th to 19th floors, with approximately 13,000 square metres of office space offering views of Marina Bay, War Memorial Park and the Civic District.
The workplace also has direct access to the precinct’s mall, hospitality, wellness and public spaces.
The redevelopment also features a new 49-storey residential tower, which will house 204 luxury homes, ranging from three- to five-bedroom apartments and penthouses.

Residents will have access to the hyper-mixed development’s hospitality, retail, wellness, and other offerings.
Revamped Marina Square mall
According to Sing Land, the four-storey Marina Square mall will undergo an asset enhancement initiative across more than 76,000 square metres of gross floor area.
Its refreshed offerings will include a broader mix of F&B, sports, wellness and lifestyle concepts, alongside landscaped and pet-friendly spaces.
Greenery from the new public park above Stamford Canal will extend the area’s nature-inspired qualities into the mall through landscaped interiors, terraces on the second and third storeys, as well as an activated rooftop.
These additions are intended to allow the mall to function as both a destination and as a route through the wider development, Sing Land said.
The rejuvenation is also aimed at responding to changing consumer expectations for places that combine commerce with recreation, well-being and community.
New public park
This revamp will also contribute to Marina Bay’s development as a 24/7 waterfront precinct “by creating a more open and inclusive public realm”, supported by spaces for events, culture and community programming, according to Sing Land.
Located along Raffles Avenue, the area above Stamford Canal will be transformed into a 6,500 square metre public park with greenery, playscapes and event spaces.
More than 4,000 square metres of privately owned public space will also be created to be connected directly to the upcoming NS Square, The Cube, a 700 square metre event venue along Raffles Boulevard, as well as The Oculus, a 300 square metre central atrium within the mall.
An art walk will also be curated across the precinct under SingLand’s corporate art initiative.
It will complement established programmes and events in Marina Bay, including Art SG, i Light Singapore, the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix, National Day and year-end celebrations.
Staying relevant
The redevelopment reflects Sing Land’s “broader ambition to transform key assets into future-ready destinations that remain relevant to how people want to live and engage,” said Sing Land CEO Jonathan Eu on Tuesday.
“We look forward to working closely with our stakeholders to bring this vision to life.”
Marina Centre was completed in 1986, and was the first district combining offices, hotels and retail in the wider Marina Bay area.
Marina Square currently offers five levels of shopping with over 200 shops comprising fashion, F&B, children and lifestyle concepts.
In 2013, the mall launched a gourmet wing called The Dining Edition as part of its redevelopment plan, featuring restaurants, bistros and a food hall.
Two years later, it launched its second phase of redevelopment with a 200,000 square feet retail wing facing the Esplanade, alongside a new facade, outdoor piazza, and roof garden among other additions such as indoor edutainment playground Pororo Park, as well as Kiztopia.
