While a flight from Lyon, France to Singapore takes about half a day, a man has chosen a different path.
Clement Lazzerini went on the road, cycling more than 15,000km from his hometown to Singapore, and documented his journey in a series of TikTok videos since early February.
The final stretch of his eight-month-long adventure ended at Merlion Park on Monday (Sept 14), he shared in a video.
“I can’t believe it. It’s all coming to an end but I had a lot of fun,” the cyclist said.
As he crossed the Causeway from Johor Bahru into Singapore, Clement said that the border impressed him.
“It’s a really cool border, one of my favourites. It’s really efficient,” he added.
Although there was some confusion at the Singapore checkpoint, Clement eventually got through customs and was soon back on track.

As he travelled to his destination, Clement pointed out that there was a lot of ongoing construction, which would cut cycling paths off abruptly and force him to ride on the road.
Although cycling in Singapore felt hectic to him, Clement said that he was grateful for Singapore’s cycling paths — something he had not seen in other Southeast Asian countries.
He also thanked a bicycle shop in Balestier which offered him a free bicycle box as well as a hostel owner who offered to help Clement pack his bike for his flight to Australia, where he resides.
Clement shared in follow up video that he had travelled through 19 countries during these eight months and spent about €7,000 (S$10,300) in total, including purchasing his bicycle in France.
Some of the countries he visited were Italy, Turkey, Kazakhstan and China. He also cycled across Vietnam, Thailand and Malaysia before reaching Singapore.
During his journey, Clement has been supporting Starlight Children’s Foundation — a nonprofit which organises programmes for children who are hospitalised — by donating one cent per follower he gained during this period.
Over $1,000 has been raised as of Wednesday, according to the fundraising page.
