Julia Garner is stepping into Madonna’s shoes — quite literally — while in Venice.
The duo of blondes wore twinning looks while riding on a gondola along the city’s canals, lip-syncing to the singer’s 1984 hit, “Like a Virgin.”
Both clad in jeans, a black-and-white gondolier polo and tailored black blazer, they held oversized straw hats (with a red ribbon for Garner and blue for Madge.)
Using the hats as props, they leaned against one another while casually swaying and singing along to the iconic track.
“Like A Virgin……again and again. 🇮🇹,” read the caption of a jointly shared Instagram post.
The clip was a nod to the song’s original music video, which was filmed in Venice more than 40 years ago.
In an interview for “I Want My MTV: The Uncensored Story of the Music Video Revolution,” director Mary Lambert shared that Madonna “singing in a gondola was the most outrageous thing I could think of.”
Madonna and Garner have been spotted for the past week filming “The Studio” Season 2, which is set to be the singer’s first scripted TV role in 23 years following her 2003 appearance on “Will & Grace.”
Garner had previously been cast in the role of Madonna in a biopic, co-written by the 67-year-old herself, after a grueling singing and dancing bootcamp battle against other actresses.
While the project was scrapped in 2023, Netflix took on the project as a future series with Garner still attached.
