Love Island star George Knight has quit the villa just days after he walked into the show as a bombshell.

An ITV statement announced on Thursday: ‘For private reasons, George has left the Love Island Villa. We have a duty of care towards George and as such will not be commenting further.’

The professional footballer, from Winchester, arrived in the villa on Tuesday alongside fellow bombshell Yasmin Hadlow.

In Wednesday night’s episode, George and Yasmin caused shockwaves when they sent two singletons packing and going home.

Host Maya Jama tasked the new bombshells with a secret mission of dumping one boy and one girl from the villa on Tuesday.

Maya told them: ‘You can dump anyone for any reason… What you’re about to do will rock the villa. They won’t see this coming. And remember – this is our little secret.’

After 24 hours, it was time to choose – with Ellie and Samraj picked as the singletons sent home in a double dumping.

The professional footballer, from Winchester, arrived in the villa on Tuesday alongside fellow bombshell Yasmin Hadlow

Breaking down in tears, Yasmin said: ‘I’m so sorry, its been a mutual thing and we’ve both had to agree on it. It’s not easy but we’ve just had to come together to agree.’

‘I was obviously the biggest competition, even still proceeding to befriend me – it’s fake’, Ellie fumed.

Since she entered the villa on day one, Ellie has been coupled up with Aidan until Yasmin walked in as a bombshell and shook things up.

After plenty of flirty chats, Yasmin sent Ellie home in a bid to couple up with Aidan.

Yet in a Love Island first, a huge twist was unveiled at the end of the episode which saw Ellie and Samraj receive a text message teasing ‘their time is not up yet’.

It will come as a surprise to no one that the Love Island villa has already been packed with smooches and liaisons.

And the kissing is set to continue during Thursday’s episode, as Yasmin and Aidan’s romance heats up as they share a kiss after Ellie’s dumping.

Ellie had been pursuing a connection with Aidan, but was left devastated when Yasmin and George chose her and Samraj to be dumped from the show.

Yasmin and Aidan catch up in the Snug to discuss Yasmin’s decision to dump Ellie.

Viewers saw Ellie and Samraj seemingly dumped from the villa, but as the episode came to a close, the pair learned their journey on the show was far from over

‘I’m sorry it’s put you in a sh*t situation,’ she tells him.

‘I’m just shocked, that’s all. I didn’t expect it,’ he replies. Comforting her, Aidan pulls Yasmin in for a hug.

Surprised and seeking clarity on the decision to dump Samraj, Robyn pulls George for a chat by the Fire Pit.

‘What did you make your decision off? Basically competition?’ Robyn asks.

Asking what it was based on, George replies: ‘Personal gain, don’t take it personally.’

But for Ellie and Samraj, all is not as it seems. Following a shock text informing them that their Love Island journey isn’t over, they sneak off to somewhere much closer to home than the airport… The Hideaway.

Later, as they head to bed, Samraj says, ‘I didn’t think I’d be spending my first night in the Hideaway with you, Ellie, as much as I love you!’

The next day, in the villa, Aidan pulls Yasmin for a chat on the Terrace and things quickly heat up.

Aidan says, ‘My attention is of course with you. I think I made a bold statement yesterday and I stick by it… But I feel like you also made a bold decision which was nice.’

But the pair then learn that there are two bombshells waiting to take them on a date, and immediately get glammed up to meet their new arrivals

‘Was it bad?’ asks Yasmin.

‘Nah, it was sexy…’ Aidan replies flirtatiously.

‘I did it all for you,’ Yasmin teases.

He pulls her in for a kiss, and the pair share a few sexy smooches.

With Aidan making his move on Yasmin, little does he know that Ellie is much closer than he thinks…

The next day in the Hideaway, Ellie and Samraj reflect on the previous night’s events.

Annoyed that his opportunity to explore a connection with Mica was cut short, Samraj says: ‘It got snatched away. George and Yasmin were playing the victim… Yasmin was crying and George was huffing and puffing, but you should just own it.’

Ellie follows, ‘If we get back in, I’m going to be bold as f*cking brass… I’m going to get what I want.’

Their fiery conversation is abruptly interrupted by a text that leaves Ellie stunned.

‘Ellie and Samraj, two bombshells are waiting to date you. Please get ready.’

‘That’s the level of chaos I was waiting for,’ says Ellie.

The pair dress to impress and head out for some romantic alfresco cocktails with two new arrivals… and viewers will learn their identities in Thursday’s show.

Love Island continues on Thursday at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
