The Lost Paradise music festival has copped a social media backlash after revealing festivalgoers will be charged $5 per shower at this year’s event – despite tickets costing up to $500.
The multi-day music festival, which runs from December 28 at Glenworth Valley on the NSW Central Coast, will see thousands of punters camp on site for up to five days.
General admission tickets, priced between $400 and $500 and already sold out, include camping – but no longer guarantee access to showers.
Instead, organisers confirmed only upgraded ticket holders will have showers included, with everyone else required to pay a $5 ‘sustainability’ fee each time they wash.
The festival announced the shock move in a social media post – and followers were not happy.
‘All toilets, showers and water for the festival are painstakingly transported to Glenworth Valley ahead of your arrival,’ they wrote.

‘To help us better manage water consumption, minimise our environmental footprint and maintain cleanliness, we’re introducing a $5 fee per shower.
‘Shower attendants will be present on-site to process payments, maintain cleanliness and manage queues (and showers will be hot!)’
This is an unprecedented rule that was not present at last year’s festival – and quickly infuriated fans who took to social media to voice their concerns.
‘Does our million dollar ticket not include a f***ing shower?’ one person sniped.
‘I love this festival but charging for basic hygienic amenities is pretty disgraceful,’ a second added.
‘Do it like a car wash. Pay per minute. High pressure rinse, soap suds, spot free rinse, beat the countdown,’ someone else suggested.
‘Do I have to pay for oxygen?’ another joked and someone else quipped: ‘I’m having a 60 min shower per day for that price.’
However, others argued in favour of the ruling and said it may lead to some premium shower facilities being installed and managed.

‘If it means the showers are staffed and kept clean the whole time, that’s good,’ one person wrote.
‘If you’re paying to stand ankle deep in someone else’s mud while the water dribbles out, that’s bad.’
The festival has been running for over a decade and this year’s line-up includes iconic British house band Underworld and Chris Stussy.
Other artists performing include X Club, I Hate Models and Duke Dumont.
In the past, many world famous artists have performed at the festival, including Tinashe, DJ Fisher, Royel Otis, Caribou, Flight Facilities, Telenova and Nick Ward.
Tickets also include camping access, ensuring fairness for everyone from early buyers to late purchasers.
