Legendary Genesis musician Phil Collins rang in his 75th birthday with his family by his side.
“Yesterday Dad turned 75 and I feel so grateful to have celebrated together,” Phil’s daughter Lily Collins wrote via Instagram on Saturday, January 31, sharing selfies of the father-daughter duo. “For all you’ve accomplished, all the joy you’ve brought so many all over the world for ALL these years, all the lessons we’ve learned, all the memories we’ve shared, and all the new ones to come, thank you.”
She continued, “I count myself so lucky to have hugged you, laughed with you, and reminisced with you on such a monumental day. Proud is an understatement. Love you to the moon and back again.”
Phil shares Lily, 36, with ex Jill Tavelman. The retired musician also shares children Joely, 53, and Simon, 49, with Andrea Bertorelli, as well as sons Nic, 24, and Mathew, 21, with Orianne Cevey.
The Emily in Paris actress’ siblings were present for Phil’s milestone birthday, as well.
“Happy 75th birthday Dad! I’m so proud of you,” Nic captioned an Instagram photo with his dad and Matthew. “Thank you for always inspiring me and for being the best dad I could ask for. Love you tons, man ❤️.”
Lily responded in the comments, writing, “The absolute greatest ❤️❤️❤️.”
Joely, for her part, also praised Nic’s portrait.
“What great photos!! Happy birthday Dad! ❤️🙌🥳,” Joely replied.
Phil retired from performing with Genesis in 2022 before dealing with a series of health challenges.
“The thing is, I’ve been sick. I mean very sick,” Phil told MOJO magazine in February 2025. “I keep thinking I should go downstairs to the studio and see what happens, but I’m not hungry for it anymore.”
Phil underwent knee surgery last year, later offering an update on his recovery process.
“You know, I have a 24-hour live-in nurse to make sure I take my medication as I should do,” Phil said during a BBC Radio 2 interview, which aired last month. “I’ve had challenges with my knee. I had everything that could go wrong with me, did go wrong with me.”
According to Phil, he has one leg that still “works.”
“I can walk, albeit with assistance, you know, crutches or whatever,” he acknowledged.
Despite his health woes, Phil still has the loving support of his family.
“Still saying ‘That’s my dad!’ 25 years later,” Lily wrote via Instagram in June 2025, marking Father’s Day. “Now, I get to play [Tarzan] for my own daughter, who will one day point at the screen and say ‘That’s my grandpa!’ Happy Father’s Day, Dad. I love you and [am] forever proud to be your daughter.”
Phil famously recorded the soundtrack for Disney’s 2002 animated movie Tarzan, including the Oscar-winning ballad “You’ll Be in My Heart” as a tribute to Lily.
“She calls me up and goes, ‘It’s all over the radio,’” Phil recalled in an Entertainment Tonight interview at the time, speaking on the song’s initial popularity. “[She adds], ‘I go to school and it’s all over the billboards.’ So, she’s really thrilled about it. When she went to the cinema with her mum, a trailer came up [and] she stood up and said, ‘That’s my dad!’”
Lily became a parent herself in January 2025, when she and her husband, Charlie McDowell, welcomed daughter Tove via surrogate.
