So long, Laverne.
Ahead of Sunday night’s 2025 Golden Globes, Laverne Cox announced she’s leaving her role as a host of E!’s live red carpet coverage after three years as the face of awards season.
“With an incredible amount of gratitude I’ve decided not to return as host of #LiveFromE’s red carpet coverage. I’m so incredibly proud of the work we did over my three year tenure,” Cox, 52, wrote in her Instagram announcement alongside a reel of memorable moments.
She added, “These moments are a reminder to me of what an incredible privilege it has been to talk to some of the world’s greatest artists about their work, navigating the pressures of success, etc.”
The actress concluded, “I’m so excited to keep growing, evolving and exploring great opportunities as an actress, artist, host and speaker” and plugged her forthcoming Amazon Prime comedy series, “Clean Slate.”
According to E!, Cox will not be on the red carpet at Sunday’s Golden Globes; instead, “Access Hollywood” star Zuri Hall and comedian Heather McMahan will be conducting live interviews with nominees and attendees.
Famous for asking A-listers, “What story are you telling with your outfit tonight?” and wearing her own stunning (often rare and vintage) gowns at the star-studded events, Cox replaced Giuliana Rancic as E!’s red carpet host in 2021.
Friends and fans flocked to the comment section to wish Cox the best.
“All the stars will miss you, and so will we! Beautiful work. 👏👏👏,” said one person, while another lamented, “Award season is not going to be the same.”
Keltie Knight, another E! News fixture who will be at the Golden Globes, commented, “You did the thing ✨ pleasure working with you queen 🙌.”
The 2025 Golden Globes will be hosted by Nikki Glaser at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Jan. 5, and E!’s red carpet coverage will kick off at 6 p.m. ET.
