Larsa Pippen‘s son got emotional about how his mother’s dating life — and rumors of an alleged affair — affected his life.
During the fourth and sixth episodes of Netflix’s Calabasas Confidential, which premiered on Friday, May 29, Preston Pippen, whom Larsa shares with ex-husband Scottie Pippen, brought up his mother while with his friends. He specifically mentioned that Larsa, 51, was in “a weird place” amid “a new relationship [as] per usual” with an unnamed man.
“I’m glad I’m not dealing with it all so [up] close,” he said. “It kind of sucks when your parents are divorced. That’s one thing and then once they start dating, it’s another thing. If they get remarried, then it’s a bigger thing.”
Preston, 24, elaborated in a confessional, saying, “There’s no age where I feel like your parents get divorced and [it is] comfortable. At that time, my mom was getting a lot of exposure and stuff.”
The Netflix personality made reference to Larsa being “friends with a very famous family” at the time, which appeared to be about his mother’s high-profile friendship with Kim Kardashian that has since fizzled.
“It was just all over the place. You would think — at that age — when you’re going to school that it is safe and you’re dodging the drama at home,” Preston recalled. “People I thought were my friends would make jokes — and there’s already so much noise in the house.”
Preston got visibly emotional while speaking about that time in his life and mentioned that his parents “don’t communicate” with each other. He elaborated later on the challenges of having famous parents while filming a scene with Larsa.
“My parents got divorced when I was 15 and it was really tough because there was an affair,” he claimed in an apparent reference about Larsa allegedly starting to date rapper Future before she was separated from Scottie, 60. Larsa, for her part, has consistently denied the speculation and stated that her marriage was over before she was linked to Future.
Preston broke down the challenges he faced, adding, “Kids at school — like my friends — would play music by a rapper that my mom was talking to at the time and it was just shitty,” he continued. “I am removed from it now so it’s easy to kind of talk about.”
Preston concluded: “Being a kid and dealing with that was difficult and now my mom’s in Miami, and my dad’s in Calabasas. It’s hard to balance that relationship with her and not upset the rest of my family.”
Before Calabasas Confidential premiered, Preston admitted to Us that there were “definitely” moments he considered not being part of a reality show after his mother’s history on The Real Housewives of Miami.
“There was a point in my development where I got a lot of attention — negative attention — because of my parents,” he recalled. “So, having to take a pause and ask myself, ‘Am I ready now to take that heat?’ I definitely had that thought to myself.”
Preston chose to take the risk, adding, “But you got to roll with it. I’m a big boy now.”
