20 years ago the cast of Laguna Beach where embroiled in love triangles and busy throwing wild high school parties in between Saturday shifts at the surf shop.

But two decades after the iconic MTV reality show came to an end and launched the ‘scripted reality’ genre, the stars are settling down, with two of the core cast announcing baby news in the past week.

The show’s male lead Stephen Colletti revealed in a Tuesday Instagram post that he is expecting his first child with his wife Alex Weaver.

Stephen, 39, was one edge of the turbulent love triangle that overtook the storylines of Laguna Beach’s first two seasons, veering back and forth between rivals Kristin Cavallari, 39, and Lauren Conrad, 39.

Kristin, who is mom to Camden Jack, 13, Jaxon Wyatt, 11 and Saylor James, nine with her ex husband, former NFL quarterback Jay Cutler, was among the LG stars to wish Stephen congratulations on his baby news.

Her lifestyle brand’s Instagram handle Uncommon James commented: ‘So happy for you both.’

MTV cameras followed the then high school seniors around for their hit reality show from 2004-2005.

Kristin, Lauren and Stephen’s love triangle engrossed millions of viewers who soon began to pick sides between ‘team Conrad’ and ‘team Cavallari.’

The show went on for three seasons before concluding in 2006; Lauren famously went on to star in the spin-off The Hills but was replaced by Kristin during the fifth season.

But recently the two buried the hatchet as they filmed the Laguna Beach reunion, and Kristin uploaded a selfie which she captioned, ‘everyone can put away their team Lauren and team Kristin shirts now.’

‘I just got back from Laguna. I filmed the Laguna Beach reunion, which was awesome,’ she said on a recent episode of her podcast.

Stephen’s high school friends all rushed to offer their congratulations on Tuesday

Lauren revealed she initially did not want to participate in the reunion but is now ‘really happy’ she did, finding the experience ‘healing’ and ‘therapeutic.’

The reunion will air later this year to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the show’s final episode.

The two-hour reunion special, tentatively titled Roku Presents: The Laguna Beach Reunion, will reunite the original cast of the series, including Lauren, Stephen and Kristin.
