Kyle Sandilands lures Brooklyn Ross back onto his team after the KIIS FM newsreader assured listeners he wouldn’t be leaving ARN: ‘Thank God’

Kyle Sandilands has managed to convince his former KIIS FM newsreader Brooklyn Ross to jump ship and join his new independent subscription show.

The shock jock, 55, has been steadily recruiting his old team from The Kyle & Jackie O Show, with Ross, 38, previously saying he would not be poached by his ex co-star.

However, it seems the ARN newsreader had a change of heart, with a video uploaded to Instagram on Friday showing Ross and Sandilands reuniting as colleagues.

The clip began with Sandilands standing outside his Vaucluse mansion in Sydney, which now acts as the headquarters for his new show.

‘The greatest newsreader on earth, Brooklyn Ross,’ Sandilands introduced as Ross came around a corner to walk down his driveway.

‘Thank God! Thank God!’ Sandilands cried out as he and Ross embraced.

The media personality then invited his latest recruit into the studios to ‘see everybody’. 

‘We cut it fine, didn’t we?’ Ross joked, referencing that the start date of Kyle Sandilands Live is on Monday at 6am.

‘It couldn’t have worked out better,’ Sandilands said. ‘Do you feel relieved? I will do my best to line your pockets with gold.’

Cheers erupted among the rest of the crew when Sandilands and Ross entered the home studio, with Sandilands calling out: ‘Ladies and gentlemen, the final team member is here!’ 

‘Oh, yes, back together,’ Ross cheered. 

Sandilands then showed Ross the golden throne he had set up in the studio for his former co-star Jackie ‘O’ Henderson should she ever return to work with him. 

‘And as promised, there’s always a seat for Jackie,’ Sandilands told Ross.

‘You know what? I hope she’s here and that was part of my decision. I think if she comes anywhere, it would be here,’ Ross said. 

ARN released a statement about Ross’s departure, saying: ‘After more than a decade with ARN, Brooklyn Ross has decided to leave the business. 

‘We thank Brooklyn for his contribution over the years and wish him well for the future. Plans for our new lineup are underway and will be announced in due course.’ 

It comes about six weeks after Ross told KIIS FM listeners he had no intention of leaving ARN to work with Sandilands. 

‘Since [The Kyle & Jackie O Show] ended, a lot of people have been asking me if I would go work with Kyle again because Kyle is going to do something,’ he said. 

‘It’s been in the headlines lately. I haven’t really spoken either way of whether I would or whether I wouldn’t. 

‘Kyle is making plans and I’ve spoken to him and he’s talking about this and about me today as well. So, I thought I’d just let everyone know how I feel about this. 

‘I will not be working with Kyle on his new venture. I’m going to be staying here at KIIS. I’m obviously very sad to not work with Kyle again. I really love him. 

‘And the feeling from him to me is mutual. I just wish him all the best for what he’s got next.’

Ross will join a string of former Kyle & Jackie O Show staffers, including Jaimee ‘Mayo’ Blazquez, Alfie Laguzza, Josh Fox, Pedro Cuccovillo Vitola and reporter Mary Madigan.

Madigan was initially slated to be the newsreader on Kyle Sandilands Live when Ross made the decision to stay at KIIS FM, but it seems the pair will now be sharing the job. 

‘You’re going to execute the news and then Mary is going to come in at the end of the news like a duo and bring up cultural things and we’ll all be a voice,’ Sandilands explained to Ross when he welcomed the newsreader to the studio.
