Kristin Davis recalled her awkward first time meeting Tom Cruise while attending the 61st Golden Globe Awards alongside her Sex and the City castmates Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon and Sarah Jessica Parker.
The And Just Like That producer-star – turning 61 next month – was the last to arrive from her group and didn’t realize they were mingling with the 62-year-old Mission: Impossible producer-star.
‘I’m hurrying down the press line to join the other three, and I see that they’re talking to some dude,’ Davis told People at the Golden Eve celebration last week.
‘I’m like, “Why is there a guy in my spot?” So I go up behind him, at which point he turns, and it’s Tom Cruise!’
The Colorado-born, Brentwood-based beauty had recently watched Cruise’s nominated performance in The Last Samurai where his character had long hair.
‘I grab his arm and jump up and down like I’m trying to rip his arm out of his shoulder blade,’ Davis recalled.

‘And then, really stupidly, I say, “I didn’t recognize you!” And he says, “You didn’t recognize me?” And I’m like, “Well, I just watched The Samurai and your hair was long!”‘
The Emmy nominee added: ‘So, stupid, right? I felt so dumb, but he was so incredibly nice. And then we all took pictures and he told us all how much he loved the show, so it was great.’
That same night, SJP scored best actress in TV series (musical/comedy) while Davis, Cattrall and Nixon lost the best supporting actress in a TV series trophy to Angels in America actress Mary-Louise Parker.
And the four-time Oscar nominee lost the best performance in a motion picture trophy to Mystic River star Sean Penn.
The two-time SAG Award winner bid farewell to her $10 million/season gig executive producing and starring as wealthy ‘gallerina’ Charlotte York Goldenblatt in HBO Max’s dismally-reviewed continuation And Just Like That, which was cancelled last August.
When Davis was directly asked whether she was satisfied with the conclusion she scoffed: ‘No.’
‘It’s hard to put into words what this journey has meant to me. Filming And Just Like That has been one of the great joys of my life,’ the Melrose Place alum wrote on Instagram last August.
