Kevin Bacon is in mourning after Rob Reiner’s tragic death.
The 67-year-old actor posted an emotional video tribute on Instagram Monday to Reiner, who directed Bacon in the 1992 legal drama “A Few Good Men,” after the filmmaker and his wife Michele were brutally murdered over the weekend.
“I’m not sure how to do this, but Rob Reiner gave me a job in ‘A Few Good Men,’” Bacon began in his video. “Sometime in the ’90s, I guess it was, and I was over the moon to get that job, because people may or may not know, but ‘This Is Spinal Tap’ is my all-time favorite movie.”
“When he called me, I was just so thrilled,” the “Footloose” star continued, “but the making of that movie was one of the best experiences that I’ve ever had. On the set, he was so fun. And it really comes down from the top. You can set a tone where people feel like we are working hard, but also we are working hard in a safe and pleasant and fun situation.”
Bacon recalled that he and Reiner “had lunch together everyday” on the “A Few Good Men” set, which he said he’s “never done” with another director.
“He and Michele would be there, and the two of them were so great together,” Bacon shared, noting that his wife, Kyra Sedgwick, who was pregnant with their son Travis at the time, would also “come by.”
“It was a magical time,” Bacon remembered. “So I’m just sending love to everyone who knew him today, because I know that everyone’s hurting today.”
Bacon captioned his post, “Today is a sad one. Thank you for everything, Rob. May you and Michele rest in peace.”
Sedgwick, 60, supported her husband in the comments, writing, “Well said, my love.”
“A Few Good Men” follows military lawyers defending two US Marines accused of murdering a fellow soldier.
The film was directed by Reiner, written by Aaron Sorkin, and starred Bacon, Tom Cruise, Demi Moore, Jack Nicholson, Kevin Pollack and Kiefer Sutherland. It was nominated for four Oscars, including Best Picture.
Moore, 63, shared her own Instagram tribute to Reiner following the tragic news of his death.
“There are no words to truly express the unfathomable devastation of losing Rob and Michele Reiner. Our kids grew up together, we worked together, and as our lives intertwined personally and professionally I will always cherish the moments and memories of what we shared,” the actress wrote alongside two pictures of her with Reiner.
“They were amazing people and wonderful parents who gave of themselves to make the world a better place,” Moore continued. “My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with their family, friends, and all that are affected by this tragedy.”
Sutherland, who also starred in Reiner’s 1986 coming-of-age drama “Stand by Me,” wrote on Instagram, “Like so many my heart was broken when I heard the news about Rob Reiner and his wonderful wife, Michele. Rob was one of the kindest gentleman I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. When I was very young he gave me an opportunity that changed my life, and I will forever be grateful.”
Reiner, 78, and his 68-year-old wife were found with their throats slit inside their Los Angeles home on Sunday. Their bodies were discovered by their 28-year-old daughter, Romy.
The couple’s son Nick, 32, was arrested hours later and charged with the murders.
The troubled drug addict reportedly got into a blowout fight with his famous father at Conan O’Brien’s Christmas party the night before Nick allegedly killed his parents.
