Kerry Katona has revealed her body has ‘completely shut down’ after battling debilitating ‘chronic pain.’

The TV personality, 45, was previously diagnosed with ulcerative colitis last February, and arthritis in 2021, but has now shared that her body has ‘completely shut down.’

Kerry had previously shared she would be undergoing surgery after being diagnosed with arthritis in her shoulders and a protruding disc in her back, and five years later, the star shared she was still struggling with her crippling pain.

The star added that she’s awaiting the results of a full health MOT to try and get to the root cause, and it’s scared her ‘how fragile her body has become.’

Kerry said: ‘I’ll be honest, I’m still feeling pretty c**p at the moment. I live with chronic pain and have for years now, but there’s been more than one occasion recently where my body has just completely shut down.

‘I know I’m overdoing it and not making enough time for myself, but it’s still been really scary and sobering to think how fragile our bodies are.’

Writing in her column for new! magazine, the star said that along with a health MOT, she was seeking help for her ‘twisted’ spine from an osteopath.

Last year, Kerry revealed she’d been diagnosed with ulcerative colitis after being blue lighted to hospital in agonising pain.

She detailed the painful experience and explained how she was immediately given morphine in the ambulance because she was ‘screaming’ in agony.

Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) causing inflammation and open sores in the innermost lining of the rectum and large intestine.

Sharing her plight, Kerry said: ‘I was taken into hospital in an ambulance at the end of last week. I was in so much pain I was screaming so the paramedics had to give me morphine there and then.

‘I’ve been diagnosed with something called colitis, which is something to do with my bowel. I won’t lie it’s been s***! Do excuse the pun.

‘I was in a bed in the hallway for a day and night before I was given a room because of how full the hospital was – I was quite shocked to hear all the hospitals are like that at the minute.’

Last month, Kerry revealed she had received hospital treatment after falling ill with a previously undiagnosed bowel condition.

The former Atomic Kitten star needed medical attention, resulting in an overnight stay at her local hospital.

The long-term condition typically manifests through cramps, severe abdominal pain and chronic diarrhoea, sometimes discharged with blood, pus or mucus.

In 2021, Kerry shared she’d finally received a diagnosis for her pain, writing on Instagram: ‘For those of you who know all about the pain and agony I’ve been in for years with my back and shoulders.

‘I’m so excited to actually being diagnosed with arthritis in my shoulders and a protruding disc in my back which can be operated on.

‘I know I must sound like a weirdo but to have been in pain for all of these years without a diagnosis has been horrendous and I am over the moon.

‘Thank you soooo much Dr Tang you have no idea how much this has changed my life.’

In 2023, the star told OK!: ‘I’m in a bad way this week with my hips and my back, I’m in so much pain that I have essentially been bed bound.

‘My hips have been out of place for a long time and now it has got to the point where the pain is making me feel physically sick. I literally can’t do anything and I had to pull my weekend tour. I couldn’t go ahead with it and felt terrible.’
