Kendra Duggar told Joseph Duggar during a jail call that she hired a lawyer only for herself in their misdemeanor child welfare case in Arkansas.

According to People, Kendra called her husband 90 minutes after she was released from custody at the Washington County Detention Facility in Arkansas on March 20.

The “Counting On” stars were each charged with four misdemeanor counts of false imprisonment and four misdemeanor counts of endangering the welfare of a child. Joseph is also facing child molestation charges that initially got him locked up at the facility.

During the couple’s phone call, which was obtained by People, Joseph, 31, asked Kendra, 27, if attorney Travis Story contacted her.

“I’ve been talking to Travis,” Kendra reportedly told her husband. “I’ve got him as my attorney now.”

Kendra added, “I wasn’t sure if you knew that, I’ve asked him to be my attorney.”

Joseph, who seemingly assumed Story would represent both of them, replied, “I wasn’t sure who we settled with but this guy’s good.”

Kendra then broke the news to Joseph that Story is only working for her.

“Well, it’s not for you, it’s only for me,” she stated, adding that she was told she needed someone “for the case we’ve got going with the kids and stuff.”

Story previously did business with family patriarch Jim Bob Duggar and represented Joseph’s brother, Josh Duggar, during his 2021 federal trial. Josh is currently serving a 151-month prison sentence on child pornography charges.

Joseph and Kendra, who share four children, were each charged with eight total misdemeanor counts after police found several suspicious locks in their family home in

Page Six obtained footage of Kendra’s arrest, showing her being given a pat-down in jail. She was later released and is due to appear in court alongside Joseph on April 29.

Joseph, meanwhile, was booked into the Washington County Correctional Facility on March 18 after he was arrested for allegedly molesting a 9-year-old girl in 2020.

He was charged with lewd and lascivious behavior involving a victim younger than the age of 12, as well as lewd and lascivious behavior toward a victim age 18 or older.

Page Six confirmed that Joseph’s only visitor in the Arkansas jail was his attorney, though he did speak to Kendra on the phone multiple times

Joseph was extradited to a Florida jail and smirked in his new mugshot that Page Six exclusively obtained from the Bay County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday.

He’s scheduled for his first court appearance on Tuesday.
