Katie Price left both her mother and fans crying tears of joy, as she gifted her a life-changing Christmas present granting her ‘a bit of freedom and independence’.

The former glamour model, 47, took to her YouTube channel on Tuesday to share a new vlog documenting her Christmas celebrations with her family on the Isle of Wight, where her mother Amy, 73, resides.

But she warned viewers they ‘might need a few tissues’ for watching the ‘tearjerker’ video, as it saw her presenting her mum with a heartfelt gift that left her overcome with emotion amid her health battles.

Katie – who was joined by her kids with ex-husband Peter Andre, Princess, 18, and Junior, 20, as well as eldest child Harvey, 23, and her boyfriend JJ Slater – gave Amy a motorised scooter to help her get around and give her ‘a new lease of life’.

In 2017, Amy was diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), an incurable condition which causes the lungs to thicken and scar, making breathing increasingly difficult.

She had a lung transplant back in 2022, but still struggles with her mobility, with it difficult for her to walk places without suffering from breathing issues, causing her to feel ‘stuck’.

But, Katie proudly revealed the mobility scooter than she’d gotten her to replace her wheelchair and Zimmerframe, declaring: ‘Whether you like it or not, you’ve got this now! New lease of life mother.’

The video saw the reality star showing her mum how to use the scooter, demonstrating how to move forwards and backwards and how to work the brakes and different speeds.

Asked whether she liked the gift, Amy gushed: ‘Yes, I do, of course I do!’ before becoming overwhelmed by emotion and breaking into tears, leading to her grandchildren Junior and Princess to rush to embrace her.

Trying out the scooter for herself, she delightedly said: ‘I’m going to have some fun on this. I think it opens up…’ before getting choked up again, as Katie wrapped her in a hug and finished: ‘Opens up a new lease of life, a bit of freedom.’

Amy added: ‘It’s crazy isn’t it! I’m jut thinking of all the places I can go now. Gives your independence back a bit. That’s what I need.

‘Where I’ve been used to it and then I haven’t had it. Especially when [husband Paul] is not here, I’m stuck. So it’s good. I can’t believe it. Oh my God, this is too much for my brain.’

Speaking to the camera, Katie voiced her delight at her mum’s reaction, saying: ‘Everyone’s been happy this Christmas. All the kids. JJ. And the best person, who’s more happy, who deserves this, is mother.

‘She’s got a new lease of life. They are good, happy tears. And I’m happy because she’s got more independence to go off and do things.’

Earlier this year, Katie detailed how ‘frustrating’ Amy’s ongoing health challenges were, explaining she was ‘still switched on’ but unable ‘to do the things she used to do’.

Speaking to Amy on her podcast, The Katie Price Show, Katie told fans how her mum has some good days and some bad days.

She said: ‘I do feel for you mum, because people have to understand what my mum’s gone through. Like her brain is just so active and still switched on. She can’t do the things that she used to do, which is frustrating for her.

‘Now here’s an example, because I am a patient person, but when my mother teases me and say, “Let’s go look at the shops in Isle of Wight, shall I take my walker or wheelchair?” and I’m like “No we’re taking your wheelchair because I’m not taking an hour”.’

Amy responded: ‘It’s not doing me any good because I’m meant to walk to help myself.’

And it wasn’t just Amy who was left emotional over the kind gift, with viewers flooding the comments section with praise for Katie and admitting they had also been moved to tears watching the heartwarming moment.

They penned: ‘I cried when I saw your mother’s tears of happiness’; ‘This is such a special video. Your mums tears and smile said it all. Lovely seeing you all together smiling ❤’.

‘You really gave your mum a wonderful gift. She can really enjoy her life of freedom. You’re so thoughtful and kind’; ‘Aww that’s lovely am in tears’; ‘What a wonderful thoughtful present for mum’.

When Amy was first diagnosed with IPF in 2017, medics told her she had a life expectancy of up to five years, with Katie later saying that she had just ‘two weeks left to live’ when she finally found a lung doner in 2022.

Giving an update on her health in November last year, Amy told the Daily Star: ‘It’s a slow process and it’s taken a while. I’ve had quite a few setbacks but that’s to be expected but I’m in the right direction.

‘The trouble is when you have a lung transplant it’s so easy to sit because you still get a bit breathless but if I don’t exercise, I won’t move forward.

‘I had a single lung transplant but it would cease up so I’ve got to exercise to get it working.’

She explained how the disease ‘robs people of breath and life’ as Katie stressed the importance of raising awareness as concerning data shows that it’s on the rise.

Following the reveal of Amy’s illness, Katie vowed to quit vaping to live a healthier lifestyle as it’s ‘no good for you’ and found it ‘disrespectful’ towards her mother.

She has attempted to kick the habit before and previously claimed vaping may have caused one of her teeth to fall out.

She said: ‘I’ve been vaping for a year, and it’s no good for you – especially when my mum has had a lung transplant. It’s disrespectful doing this in front of my mum.

‘I’ve decided that today is the day I am throwing this battery, chemical, addictive, horrible thing away. I am now doing vapes no more from today.

‘I’ve got the strength to get rid of them. Join me. It’s going in the bin, that’s it. I’ve cleared all of my vapes out of the car and everything.’

Despite this, Katie, who was spotted vaping on a train last year and puffed on a device during her live tour with pal Kerry Katona, has reportedly struggled to quit.

A source told The Mirror: ‘Katie needs to stop for health reasons and, obviously, her family members have been very worried.

‘But she’s so stressed and it [vaping] is simply her way of releasing that stress. It’s also very addictive and as we know, Katie’s got a very addictive personality.’

Her boyfriend, former Married At First Sight star JJ Slater, is also said to be concerned but feels powerless to intervene, with the insider saying there is only so much he can do as ‘Katie has her own mind.’

However, earlier this month, Katie reiterated that she ‘has to stop’ after having a recent health scare, when she learned how vaping had been clinically linked to irreversible lung disease.

She revealed she had spoken to Amy and Paul about her addiction, saying: ‘I had a word with mum and Paul and said my new year’s resolution is to give up vapes. I’m lucky I’ve had my lungs checked so there’s no damage to my lungs.’

While, she was seen with a vape in her Christmas video, she insisted that she had promised her mum that New Year’s Day would be the last time she vaped, declaring: ‘I’ve got 48 hours left!’
