Katherine Ryan has expressed her ‘remorse’ after repeatedly plugging a recipe meal kit during an appearance on Sunday Brunch, according to an Ofcom report.

The comedian, 41, was said to have made repeated references to the Gousto recipe boxes which then prompted an investigation from the media regulator.

While Katherine went on the show to promote her partnership with the brand, it appeared that her constant mentions of Gousto went beyond what was deemed ‘editorially justified’, reports The Independent.

In response to the investigation, Channel 4 stated that ‘further training’ had been given to the Channel 4 staff, with Ofcom then declaring that the issue had therefore been resolved.

Channel 4 went on to note that hosts Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer ‘were transparent about Ms. Ryan’s commercial connection with Gousto’ during the episode filmed in November.

However, the star – who had a commercial deal with the Gousto – went too far in waxing lyrical about the brand, with the broadcaster adding the ‘repeated references to Gousto were unsolicited, unscripted, spontaneous, outside the scope of the agreed contribution and clearly not part of the editorial intent.’

After being spoken to by the editorial team, Katherine reportedly ‘expressed remorse at having strayed from the agreed script and gave her assurances that there would be no more mentions of Gousto in the programme.’

Channel 4 added that the Canadian TV personality would have ideally been ‘interrupted earlier’, but it wasn’t easy to do so given the live nature of the programme.

Among Katherine’s references the brand during the show, she remarked: ‘it makes it so much easier being a working mum’, with Ofcom state was clearly ‘promotional’.

The media watchdog also went on to state that Katherine had ‘extensive experience as a former guest and presenter on the programme’ and that after she was reprimanded during the break, further refences were ‘minimal’.

Channel 4 went on to add that it takes the compliance of code ‘extremely seriously’ and ensured that ‘refresher training’ was given to the broadcaster’s ‘legal & compliance department’ as well as the production team at Sunday Brunch and Channel 4 editorial staff.

MailOnline have contacted representatives of Katherine and Channel 4 for comment.

It comes days after Katherine reportedly left no celebrity safe as she took savage swipes at the rich and famous during the London stop of her Battleaxe tour on Thursday.

The comedian is said to have slammed everyone from disgraced rapper Sean ‘P Diddy’ Combs, 55, to Maura Higgins, 34, Prince Andrew, 65, and ‘very stupid’ Tommy Fury, 25.

Speaking about the music mogul, who is awaiting trial accused of sex trafficking and sexual assault, Katherine quipped to the Palladium audience: ‘Who knew P stood for paedo? He was hiding in plain sight all this time.’

According to The Sun she also turned her attention to Love Island’s Maura, following her ‘drunken kiss’ with married McFly star Danny Jones, 39, at the BRITs.

The funny woman said she didn’t blame Maura for the scandal and branded her ‘irresistible’, joking: ‘I’d like to see Maura on Celebrity Traitors. Just Maura and married celebrity men’.

Then the beleaguered Andrew was in the firing line, amid reports the Jeffrey Epstein files threaten to heap ‘further embarrassment’ on the Duke, laughed:  ‘Taylor Swift has been responsible for more sobbing teenagers than Prince Andrew.’

Finally also slammed  ‘walking f***ing haircut’ Tommy Fury as she discussed his recent reunion with girlfriend Molly-Mae Hague, following rumours of infidelity.

In her savage put down she branded him a ‘liability’ and ‘very stupid’ as she mocked the boxer’s decision to ‘get punched in the head professionally’.
