Seafood restaurant chain Jumbo Group will introduce a special limited-time menu between Sept 21 and 29 as it marks the closure of its flagship outlet at East Coast Park on Sept 30.
Opened in 1987, the East Coast outlet was the first Jumbo Seafood restaurant and the birthplace of the home-grown seafood chain.
The restaurant will also donate 50 per cent of all set menu sales proceeds directly to six selected charitable organisations “in the spirit of giving back”, it said in a press release on Thursday (Sept 17).
The special celebratory set menu is available for parties of four to 10 people, and starts from $258++.
The menu will feature Jumbo’s signature dishes and nostalgic favourites that are no longer on its regular menu, including its award-winning chilli crab with mantou, chilled Australian lobster with salad cream and mixed fruits and its signature homestyle crispy seafood tofu, among others.
Patrons who order the celebratory set menu will also stand a chance to receive a goodie bag, while stocks last.
In an Instagram video posted by Jumbo Group Singapore on Sept 15, patrons shared some of their favourite Jumbo dishes including steamed sea bass in garlic and soy sauce, black pepper crab and the chilli crab.
Several patrons sang praises of the restaurant, with one woman summarising the experience as: “Good views, good food, good people.”
One Instagram user commented that it was “heartbreaking” that the restaurant is closing.
“I had so many incredible meals there. The great food and the ocean view was a perfect match,” she wrote.
On its last day, Jumbo will also be hosting a finale celebratory dinner, bringing together partners and suppliers to honour the restaurant’s enduring legacy and the people who have contributed to its success over the decades.
“While we bid farewell to the place where JUMBO began, we also celebrate 39 years of shared memories and the people who have made this journey possible,” said Mr Ang Kiam Meng, executive chairman and CEO of Jumbo Group.
