Julia Roberts made a rare appearance with one of her three children as she stepped out in New York City on Wednesday.

The Pretty Woman star, 58, was spotted walking arm-in-arm with her son Phinnaeus, 21 – who towered over his famous mother – as the pair strolled through Manhattan in high spirits.

Dressed casually in a black collared shirt and ripped denim shorts, the Oscar winner cut a relaxed figure, though still exuded her trademark movie star glow.

Phinnaeus, a student at the University of California, Berkeley, matched his mother’s low-key look in a graphic T-shirt, shorts and sandals, and bore a striking resemblance to his father, cinematographer Danny Moder.

Missing from the outing were his twin sister Hazel, a student at Trinity College Dublin, and younger brother Henry, who is studying at the Pratt Institute in New York.

The sighting came just days after the Sleeping with the Enemy actress celebrated Henry’s birthday with a family day out in the Big Apple.

Roberts, Henry and Hazel were later spotted gathering at the landmark Jane Hotel in Manhattan’s West Village.

In September, the star opened up about parenthood in an interview with longtime friend George Clooney.

The veteran actors’ conversation was published in the inaugural issue of 72 Magazine.

Roberts spoke candidly about raising her children, describing herself and her husband as ‘stricter parents’ than others in their community.

Asked whether she restricted her children’s internet access while they were growing up, she said, ‘I think they were, for sure, some of the last kids in their peer groups to get phones and stuff like that.’

She continued, ‘When they were younger, certainly, Danny and I would have been considered some of the stricter parents. Not like we’re laying down the law, but these are the rules and they don’t change.

‘Here’s the boundary of your life and it does not shift. You know, you don’t ask me and get an answer and then go ask dad and get a different answer. That doesn’t happen. It will never happen.’

The Hollywood mainstay added, ‘I think that is what creates the stability that then allows them to feel secure because you know there is this fixed world of love and safety that exists unconditionally.’

In another part of the conversation, she shared, ‘You know, we all want our kids to grow up with values. This is what we want as parents.

‘I think part of it is just Danny and I are definitely aligned in our core values and always have been.’

Roberts’ love life was once a steady source of Hollywood headlines.

Her early romances included a high-profile engagement to Kiefer Sutherland, which was called off just days before their wedding.

She later dated Liam Neeson and Benjamin Bratt, with whom she was in a long-term relationship before their split in 2001.
