Jeremy Vuolo had quite the test before his very first date with Jinger Duggar.

“Ten years ago, I met a really cute girl, and I wanted to take her out on a date,” Jeremy, 38, shared on the Wednesday, December 3, episode of his podcast. “Then I met her dad and when I asked her dad if I could take her on a date, he sent me a 60-page questionnaire with 235 questions that I had to answer before I took her on a date.”

While sitting down with Jinger, 31 — who he married in November 2016 — Jeremy revealed just some of the questions he had to answer before he could even grab coffee with the former Counting On star.

“It definitely propelled [our relationship] very fast,” Jinger explained. “At some point, [my dad] let me read through it and it actually gave me more peace knowing more about you.”

After finding fame on 19 Kids and Counting and Counting On, Jinger said her parents worried that some men would want to pursue their children for the wrong reasons.

With the 60-page questionnaire, both Michelle Duggar and Jim Bob Duggar hoped they could have a better sense of who was courting their daughters.

“If you have this vetting process, it can be intimidating,” Jinger acknowledged to Jeremy. “It was a helpful conversation for him to have with you. … I’m so glad you pursued me. You made it through. For our culture, it’s a whole different level of commitment before you know the person and that’s the tricky part.”

Jeremy recalled answering questions about everything from how much TV he watches per week to financial inquiries.

“Do you have savings? If so, how much? In what form?” Jeremy said when reading off the questionnaire. “Do you have income from other sources? Do you have outstanding debts to pay? When will they be paid off? Are you financially free? How important is it to have a will? Do you have one now? How soon will you make one when you are married?”

Religious Questions

As a devout independent Baptist, Jim Bob wanted to learn more about how Jinger’s potential partner viewed religion.

“What is your churchgoing history? What is your parents’ churchgoing history?” Jeremy asked when reading off some questions. “If you are of another denomination than my daughter, how are you going to reconcile any differences when you’re teaching her and our grandchildren?”

Jim Bob didn’t waste any time trying to learn more about Jeremy’s family visions.

“How do you feel about the influence of grandparents? Would you let them live with you in their old age?” the questionnaire stated. “Do you strongly want either a boy or a girl? If a child has a serious physical or mental defect, how would you deal with this? Would you consider an abortion or place the child for adoption?”

Random Questions

Some questions may appear to be completely out of the box for listeners.

“Have you ever had an imaginary friend or spirit guide offering you guidance or companionship?” Jeremy said when reading from a page. “Have you ever heard voices in your mind?”

Jeremy explained that he writes even more about the exam in his and Jinger’s 2021 book, The Hope We Hold: Finding Peace in the Promise of God.
