South Korean actor Jang Dong-yoon has announced that he will marry actress Kim Seung-yoon in October.

The 34-year-old broke the news in a handwritten letter posted on Instagram today (Aug 25), saying that they plan to hold a quiet ceremony with their families.

He wrote: “There were so many thoughts and worries before deciding to get married. By spending a lot of time together, we came to know each other’s many different sides, and in turn, we became more understanding of and cherished each other.

“Now, we have decided to support each other as our closest companion and live together happily and joyfully.”

He acknowledged that the news may come as a surprise and expressed his appreciation for fans’ understanding and support.

“I wanted to share this news first with all of you who have always supported me by my side and stood with me through every moment of my journey as an actor,” wrote Dong-yoon.

“I will continue to do my best to show you a good side of me as an actor, and to live more maturely as a person as well.”

Dong-yoon and 29-year-old Seung-yoon reportedly grew closer after collaborating on a project as director and actor, according to Korean media.

Dong-yoon made his acting debut in the 2016 web drama Game Company Female Employees and is best known for his roles as Cha Su-yeol in Queen Mantis (2025), Song Yu-chan in Netflix’s Daily Dose of Sunshine (2023) and Jeon Nok-du in The Tale of Nokdu (2019).

He also ventured into directing with Please Be My Ear (2023) and The Yeast (2025), both of which starred Seung-yoon, who debuted in the historical drama The Tale of Nokdu and later acted as Han Bom in For Eagle Brothers (2025).

She has worked largely on the big screen, appearing in films such as In Water (2023) as Nam Hui, A Traveller’s Needs (2024) as Lee Song and The Yeast (2025) as Da-seul.
