Jake Reiner gave his first interview about losing his parents Rob Reiner and Michele Reiner, eight months after their deaths — and brother Nick Reiner’s arrest for the murders.
“I physically lost my parents. And then Nick was arrested. … He’s in jail,” the 35-year-old said in a Thursday preview on “Good Morning America” of his KABC-TV sit-down (via People.)
“And now it’s me and Romy,” he continued, referencing his 28-year-old sibling.
“It’s been eight months,” Jake noted. “It feels like eight years at the same time. And it also feels like eight minutes.”
He explained, “Every moment that I wake up, I’m reminded of my reality.”
Jake recalled the moment he learned of Rob and Michele’s December 2025 slayings via phone call, saying, “Romy told me our dad was dead and then she said, ‘I can’t find mom.’”
He noted his late parents gave himself, Romy and Nick, 32, “unconditional love” prior to their passing.
Jake first commented on the couple’s “horrific and devastating” killings in their California home a joint statement with his sister last year.
“Words cannot even begin to describe the unimaginable pain we are experiencing every moment of the day,” they wrote, in part. “[This] is something that no one should ever experience. They weren’t just our parents; they were our best friends.”
Four months later, Jake penned a moving essay — and broke his silence on Nick being taken into custody.
“We lost more than half of our family that night in the most violent way imaginable,” he wrote via Substack in April. “Sure, any loss of a parent is devastating, but nothing compares to losing both of them at the same time and, on top of that, having your brother be at the center of it.”
Jake, who called the tragedy “almost too impossible to process” at the time, went on to describe his bond with his parents on his “Incline: Dodgers” podcast in May.
Romy, for her part, has yet to speak publicly about the murders.
While she and Jake have not been present at Nick’s court appearances, where he has pleaded not guilty, news broke earlier this month that the duo testified before the grand jury that indicted their brother.
The content of their testimony is not known at this time.
A pre-trial hearing for the murder case is scheduled for Sept. 15.
Nick potentially faces life in prison without parole or the death penalty as he has been charged with two counts of murder with the special circumstance allegations of multiple murders and murder by means of lying in wait.
