In a new promo for Saturday Night Live, host Jack Black playfully tries to fight musical guest Elton John.
The actor and comedian, who is set to host the NBC sketch comedy show for the fourth time this Saturday, says in the video (below), “Hi, I’m Jack Black, and I’ll be hosting SNL this week with musical guests, Brandi Carlile and Elton… Elton John.”
The seemingly irritated “Rocket Man” singer responds with a brief comment, “Hi, Black,” which quickly annoys the Minecraft Movie actor.
“Elton, what did I say?” an angry Black asks. As he tries to continue speaking, that’s when Elton decides to yell over him.
“NO!” Black screams in response, as SNL castmember Heidi Gardner attempts to hold him back. “OK, that’s it. Hold me back, Brandi. Hold me back.”
“Calm down. Calm down,” Carlile says as she tries to defuse the situation before Black adds, “I’m gonna go Nacho Libre on his ass,” referencing the actor’s 2006 film.
In another promo for the upcoming SNL episode, Gardner says, “Wow, it is so crazy to be up here with all you guys. I am very overwhelmed.”
In an attempt to ease her nerves, Black says, “Just take a deep breath, Heidi. We’re totally normal people.”
However, Carlile was quick to remind Gardner they’re actually not entirely normal. “Minus our fame and money,” the “Broken Horses” artist says, as Black adds, “And immeasurable musical talent.” Elton also chimed in, “I’m also a Knight.”
“Thanks. I feel a lot better,” a seemingly stressed Gardner responds.
SNL airs Saturday at 11:30 p.m. ET/8:30 p.m. PT on NBC and streams live on Peacock.
Black’s A Minecraft Movie hits theaters on Friday, the same day that Carlile and John’s collaborative album, Who Believes In Angels?, releases.
