Mohammed Rafi and Manna Dey reportedly charged Rs 300 per song at the time and after Lata Mangeshkar’s stand things started changing in Bollywood. AR Rahman is the highest-paid singer in India and reportedly he charges around Rs 3 crore for each song he lends his voice to. According to sources, Rahman charges this premium to discourage composers from approaching him. AR Rahman solely wants to focus on his composition and sings his own songs. But, when he sings a song that is composed by another composition, the producer has to pay him a hefty amount.

Shreya Ghoshal remains the highest-paid in India and the diva reportedly charges around Rs 25 lakh per song she records. Next is Sunidhi Chauhan who is in the third spot and she charges Rs 18-20 lakh per song. Later, Arijit Singh is on the list who reportedly charges around Rs 18-20 lakh per song as per sources.
Next on the list is Sonu Nigam who ranks on the fifth spot and reportedly charges Rs 15-18 lakh for one song. Rapper Badshah and singer Diljit Dosanjh have hiked their fees in recent years and might enter the top five list soon.
