I’m A Celebrity South Africa’s Sinitta has admitted that she felt blindsided by Gemma Collins’ jibes and has revealed that she’s got plans to go on holiday with David Haye.

The singer, 62, appeared on this year’s series of I’m A Celebrity spin-off alongside the likes of Mo Farrah, Ashley Roberts, and Harry Redknapp.

During her stint in the jungle, Sinitta called TOWIE star Gemma a joke in front of stunned I’m A Celebrity campmates as she explained she thought that her taking on the role of Mama Morton in Chicago was a ‘joke announcement’.

The GC retaliated by saying ‘F*** you’ on social media and their feud raged on with another social media swipe.

But speaking with Closer magazine about her friendship with the Essex star, Sinitta said: ‘Gemma and I were so good in the camp. I was blindsided that she didn’t tell me I’d hurt her feelings.

‘In the jungle I was trying to find common ground with her, rather than embarrass her. We had some lovely moments together.

I’m A Celebrity South Africa’s Sinitta has admitted that she felt blindsided that Gemma Collins didn’t tell her how she felt after she branded her a JOKE in camp

During her stint in the jungle, Sinitta called TOWIE star Gemma (pictured) a joke in front of stunned I’m A Celebrity campmates as she explained she thought that her taking on the role of Mama Morton in Chicago was a ‘joke announcement’

‘When we got out, I took her for lunch and she told me no one had bought her lunch and said, “You’re a class act, Sinitta.” When I found out her mum was sick, I was praying for her. It was all a misunderstanding what happened afterwards – she’s a great girl.’

The moment in question saw Sinitta ask the reality legend: ‘But what happened with Chicago? You were supposed to follow me as Mama Morton.’

Gemma responded with: ‘I had a terrible injury… it was something to do with the insurance.’

Sinitta continued: ‘I’m sorry, but I’m going to admit it, when I heard you were going to do it, I thought it was a joke announcement.’

She continued: ‘I think you’d just presented something at an awards show and fell off the stage.

‘It was like you were more of a comedian.’

The morning after the episode aired, Gemma shared an old clip of herself saying to camera: ‘Anyone who ever doubted me, said I was never going to be anything… f*** you!’

She captioned the Instagram post: ‘Never let people tell your a JOKE [sic]. I’ve been through thousands of trials and tribulations to get where I am today.’

It was then later pointed out that Gemma doesn’t follow Sinitta on Instagram, but hit the follow button for all her other co-stars.

Despite the drama, Sinitta gained some great pals from taking part in the ITV show.

She added to the publication: ‘I’m older so I didn’t expect everyone to be my best friend, but I’ve made connections.

‘David and I are planning a trip to Costa Rica with his partner, Sian. Mo and I are neighbours so we’re having a barbecue night, and Jimmy and I will go for a lunch. I adored Beverley Callard too.’

The singer also has plans to go on holiday with her former campmate David Haye (pictured)

Last month Emmerdale actor Adam was crowned legend of the jungle in a chaotic live finale.

David exploded at Emmerdale actor Adam, Jimmy launched a furious rant at hosts Ant and Dec for editing out clips and Sinitta and Gemma Collins stormed off stage.

There was a lot of drama during this year’s series, including Adam and Jimmy’s huge clash, and David being labelled a ‘bully’ after his behaviour towards Adam.

Sinitta then appeared on Good Morning Britain and stood up for David and Jimmy.

Speaking about the drama with Susanna Reid, Ed Balls and Richard Arnold, Sinitta said: ‘I just thought, they had just blown it. you had a point, Jimmy didn’t deserve, yes there was banter.

‘It did feel like bullying to me. we’ve lost why we’re here now. now it does look like we’re bullies.

‘Yes, it was over the top. Adam was angry and aggressive, they couldn’t show the whole thing.

‘I’m a sensitive person, shouting and swearing in a negative way, lots of people pepper their language, I can handle that, I don’t do that.

‘When you’re angry, using the bad swear words, to me, that feels like there is going to be a fight.’

She added: ‘It all happened afterwards. I’m an ambassador for anti bullying, I’ve grown up with people not wanting me to be there. I know what it’s like.

‘I don’t tolerate it. I’m brave standing up for other people.

‘With somebody else, my courage comes in, because it was the teasing behind my back, acting sad, getting in trouble, I didn’t feel like I needed to protect.

‘I definitely would have, there was no bullying there was boisterous testosterone. It wasn’t bullying.’
