Independent Artist Group has named Nir Caspi as head of non-scripted & new media and chief growth officer.
It’s the latest move from the agency, which is determined to establish itself as the top alternative to the Big 3 agencies and occurs as it pushes into new growth areas, including into the rapidly expanding digital realm.
Caspi joins IAG from WME, where he was a longtime partner, well-respected dealmaker and business builder across non-scripted television, documentaries, digital media, sports and creator-driven enterprises.
In his new role, Caspi will oversee IAG’s alternative & factual division and lead the agency’s digital media initiatives. At the same time, he will serve as chief growth officer, with a focus on identifying new business opportunities, expanding IAG’s suite of services, and maximizing long-term value for the agency’s clients and partners.
“Nir is exactly the kind of leader we look for—someone who understands both the evolving marketplace and how to empower businesses to meet that need,” said CEO Jim Osborne and president Kyle Loftus in a statement. “As we build IAG as the true alternative in the full-service agency space, our focus has been on growth, innovation, and opportunity for our clients.”
Caspi, who will be based in IAG’s L.A. offices, steps into a similar role held by Hayden Meyer, who steered the division for the past 20 years. Meyer was instrumental in identifying Caspi for the role and, under the restructuring of the department, will segue to a senior position.
“Building and leading this department has been an honor,” said Meyer in a statement. “Given the monumental changes in the entertainment industry and a significant shift toward influencer-driven content, the time is right, and Nir is the ideal leader to guide the department into the future. I look forward to collaborating with Jim, Kyle and Nir to ensure our continued progress and success as an agency.”
At WME, Caspi represented a wide range of companies and talent, ranging from Breaklight Pictures (Cowboy Cartel), Sidestilt Films (The Pez Outlaw), Hodgee Films (An Intimate Evening with Adam Pally) to A. Smith & Co. (American Ninja Warrior), Bari Weiss’ The Free Press, YouTuber Topper Guild, World Series of Poker, Warner Music Group and Linkin Park. He was also credited as a principal architect of Netflix’s Queer Eye reboot and helped scale the series into a global franchise spanning multiple seasons and international extensions.
IAG is positioning Caspi’s hiring as the latest salvo in its effort to find and empower a younger generation of representative that can be nimble and fast-moving.
“As we take the agency to the next phase of our growth, Nir’s discerning taste, belief in our vision, and shared approach for collaborative, forward movement are essential to the agency’s evolution,” added Osborne and Loftus.
