Upcoming warm weather means wardrobe essentials will soon be changing — and as much as I love shorts season, I don’t actually love denim pairs. Over the last few years, I curated a collection of loose spring shorts that give almost the same denim look without the restrictive feel. They’re much more comfortable, a bit more versatile and a lot more chic, in my honest opinion.

When I want to look stylish and put together, I gravitate towards easy, breezy linen shorts, which can easily be dressed up or down. For more casual ‘fits, I swap the usual go-to denim for a pair of fleece or laid-back cotton shorts that look just as good with a white tee or sweater. I also have a few favorites below from big names like Old Navy, Quince, Free People and Lulus, starting at just $9. Shop my top loose shorts below for comfy but cute spring (and summer) looks.
