“Malcolm in the Middle” is getting the reboot treatment nearly 20 years after airing its season finale.
A four-episode revival, titled “Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair”, is now available to stream exclusively on Hulu.
The original series followed Malcolm, the genius middle child in a dysfunctional family.
Per Hulu, the reboot continues to follow Malcolm, who spent over a decade “shielding himself and his daughter from his family,” as he is “dragged back into their orbit when Hal and Lois demand his presence at their 40th anniversary party.”
Frankie Muniz, who plays the titular Malcolm, returns to the series alongside Bryan Cranston and Jane Kaczmarek, who play Hal and Lois. Muniz, speaking exclusively with Page Six, called his return to Hollywood “surreal” and noted felt “really proud to be an actor” during his time filming the reboot.
Muniz stepped away from acting in 2006 to pursue a career as a race car driver; he currently drives full-time in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.
