Something “Wicked” this way comes.
On the heels of award season — and a buzzy, months-long press tour — “Wicked” is finally available to stream at home.
The film became the highest-grossing Broadway adaptation of all time in 2024, in addition to taking home two Oscars — and spawning numerous brand collaborations and meme-worthy moments in the process.
And with part two, “Wicked: For Good,” set to premiere in fall 2025, the fantasy franchise is only getting started. Read on for everything you’ll need to know to watch (or re-watch) the beloved blockbuster at home.
Where can I watch ‘Wicked’?
No need to look to the Western skies to find “Wicked,” it’s now streaming exclusively on Peacock.
And given the service starts at just $7.99/month, you can sing “Defying Gravity” while defying high movie theater ticket prices. (Plus, you’ll also get access to a bevy of Bravo shows and other Peacock exclusives.)
Stream on Peacock
If you’d prefer to own the film for good, it’s also available to buy or rent for $20 or $6, respectively, on Prime Video.
What is ‘Wicked’ about?
Based on the Broadway play and unofficial “Wizard of Oz” prequel of the same name, the film chronicles Elphaba (Cythia Erivo) and Glinda’s (Ariana Grande) early years and unlikely friendship at Shiz University.
Grande told People the movie “forever changed” her, while Erivo called working with the pop star “a dream” in an episode of “The Late Show.”
“We really just understood what we both needed in order to play these characters, to do this film, and I’m lucky because I feel like I wandered away with a person who I love for life,” she added.
Is ‘Wicked’ two parts?
While the “Wicked” stars shot part two — entitled “Wicked: For Good” — immediately following part one, it’s not slated for release until Nov. 21, 2025 (almost exactly a year after its precursor’s premiere).
Ervio teased the sequel’s score in an interview with Variety last year, saying, “I collaborated on one of the new songs, and it’s so special to me. When we filmed it, the entire crew was in tears.”
