Hailee Steinfeld has reacted to the warm reception she’s received from the people of Buffalo, New York after getting engaged to football star Josh Allen.
The singer, 28, appeared on the Thursday, April 3 edition of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and was congratulated on her recent engagement to the Buffalo Bills quarterback.
“I have been given a very warm welcome, the people are incredible,” she said. “It’s such a wonderful, wonderful place. I love it so much.”
During the interview with Steinfeld, Fallon showed the singer and the audience a photo of a billboard that had been erected in the city after the couple announced their engagement via Instagram in November 2024.
The billboard read: “The Queen City has a new queen. Congratulations Josh and Hailee.”
Reacting to the billboard, Steinfeld admitted it was one of the “cooler” things to have happened to her since revealing she’s set to walk down the aisle.
Steinfeld and the athlete shared their engagement via a joint Instagram post last year, which was captioned simply “♾ 11•22•24 ♾.” The post contained a photo from Allen’s romantic waterfront proposal.
Allen, 28, proposed at sunset in front of a flower arch while down on one knee and the snap showed Steinfeld kissing her new fiancé.
The sports star shared further details of the proposal in a December 2024 edition of Steinfeld’s “Beau Society” newsletter, writing, “I said, ‘I couldn’t wait any longer.’ I said, ‘I can’t wait to start a family with you.’ I said your full name, and I asked you very nicely. I said ‘please.’”
He added: “You were extremely surprised, you said yes, and that was all that mattered to me. And the sun was out. It feels unbelievable to be engaged to someone who is so special and loving and caring and gorgeous and fun and happy.”
The relatively private couple made their red carpet debut at the NFL Honors in February, posing together hand in hand at the event held in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Last month, a source exclusively told Us Weekly that the couple isn’t wasting any time when it comes to tying the knot.
“They don’t want a long engagement, and the wedding planning is already underway,” the source told Us. “Hailee is very excited about the planning process and now that Josh is done with the season, she hopes they can have more time to make decisions together.”
