Bad Bunny made a strong statement against the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) as he accepted the top honor at the 2026 Grammy Awards on a night where Hollywood expressed many anti-ICE sentiments.

Other winners including Billie Eilish and Olivia Dean – who led the star-studded red carpet – used their shining moments at the gala event held at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles to honor immigrants and blast the law enforcement agency under the United States Department of Homeland Security.

Many artists at the event wore ‘ICE out’ pins in protest of the controversial agency after the killings of Keith Porter in LA and Renée Good and the VA ICU nurse Alex Pretti in Minneapolis at the hands of its agents.

The 31-year-old Puerto Rican global superstar – born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio – beat out a very competitive field as he took home Best Album for DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS.

Bad Bunny – who will be performing at the Super Bowl LX Half-time Show at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California next week – was obviously emotional as he cried as he sat down for several seconds with his head in his hand in disbelief after his name was called.

Then during his speech he sent a powerful message as he said: ‘I want to dedicate this award to all the people that had to leave their homeland, their country, to follow their dreams.’

That was not his only political statement as earlier in the night, the artist’s first words were ‘ICE out’ when he hit the podium to accept Best Música Urbana Album for DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS.

The NUEVAYoL hitmaker said: ‘Before I say thanks to god, I’m going to say, ICE Out.’

He received a massive ovation from the crowd before he continued his speech by saying that immigrants and Puerto Ricans are not savage, animals, or aliens and that they are in fact, Americans.

Bad Bunny continued by saying not to be consumed by hate as he gave a positive message during his speech, ‘The hate gets more powerful with more hate. The only thing that is more powerful than hate is love.

‘So, please, we need to be different. If we fight, we have to do it with love. Yeah. We don’t hate them, we love our people, we love our family, and that’s the way to do it, with love. Don’t forget that, please. Thank you. Thank you, god! And thank you to The Academy.’

Bad Bunny beat out J Balvin – Mixteip, Feid – FERXXO VOL X: Sagrado, Nicki Nicole – NAIKI, Trueno – EUB DELUXE, and Yandel – SINFÓNICO — En Vivo.

Billie Eilish also expressed similar political sentiments earlier in the night as she even used profane language which was bleeped out by network censors.

The 24-year-old Los Angeles native – born Billie Eilish Pirate Baird O’Connell – was emotional as she earned Song Of The Year for WILDFLOWER while accompanied by brother FINNEAS.

During her speech she said: ‘As grateful as I feel, I honestly don’t feel like I need to say anything but that no one is illegal on stolen land.

‘And, yeah, it’s just really hard to know what to say and what to do right now, and I feel really hopeful in this room, and I feel like we just need to keep fighting and speaking up and protesting, and our voices really do matter, and the people matter. That’s all I’m going to say. Sorry. Thank you so much. I can’t believe this.’

If Eilish’s message was not already clear enough she yelled ‘f** ICE’ before walking off-stage in a moment which was censored by CBS.

Eilish beat out a very impressive field including Lady Gaga – Abracadabra, Doechii – Anxiety, ROSÉ, Bruno Mars – APT., Bad Bunny – DtMF, HUNTR/X: EJAE, Audrey Nuna, REI AMI – Golden (From ‘KPop Demon Hunters’), Kendrick Lamar With SZA – luther, and Sabrina Carpenter – Manchild.

Olivia Dean earned one of the most coveted awards in music as she took home Best New Artist and took the opportunity to reference the political climate by including a dedication to her immigrant grandmother in her speech.

The 26-year-old British singer beat out a very impressive field including TikTok famous Addison Rae in addition to: KATSEYE, The Marias, sombr, Leon Thomas, Alex Warren, and Lola Young.

Dean is the latest winner in a star-making category which has had previous title holders including Chappell Roan, Billie Eilish, Megan Thee Stallion, Dua Lipa, and Olivia Rodrigo.

She also made a political statement while honoring her family as she said during her acceptance speech: ‘I guess I want to say I’m up here as a granddaughter of an immigrant. I wouldn’t be here.

‘Yeah, I’m a product of bravery, and I think those people deserve to be celebrated.  So yeah, we are nothing without each other. Thank you so much. I love you. Thank you so much.’

Her grandmother immigrated from the UK from Guyana at the age of 18 as part of the Windrush Generation during World War II. Her ethnic background also includes Jamaican and English.

Dean released her second album The Art Of Loving last year which features hit tracks Man I need, So Easy, and The Hardest Part.

Kendrick Lamar earned arguably the second most important award of the night as he took home Record Of The Year for the track luther featuring SZA.

The 38-year-old Compton, California native made sure to thank late R&B legend Luther Vandross who inspired the song and whose vocals were sampled in it.

Lamar said: ‘This is special for me. I’ve got to take my time, because he’s one of my favorite artists of all time.

‘They granted us the privilege to do our version of it. When we got that clearance, I promise you, we damn near all dropped a tear.’

He went on to say that the Vandross estate asked that there was no profanity on the new version of the song and both Lamar and SZA abided by that.

It was a massive night for Lamar as he also earned the first award during the televised portion of the night in the Best Rap Album category for GNX.

It was one of the most contentious fields of the night as the rapper  triumphed over Clipse, Pusha T and Malice – Let God Sort Em Out, GloRilla – GLORIOUS, JID – God Does Like Ugly, Kendrick Lamar – GNX – WINNER, and Tyler, The Creator – CHROMAKOPIA.

Nominations were announced in November, with then 22-time Grammy winning rapper Lamar leading the pack with nine nods ultimately taking home five more bringing his new total to 27.

Lady Gaga was one of the biggest winners of the night as she earned Best Pop Vocal Album for MAYHEM.

The 39-year-old artist (born Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta) beat out a very impressive field which included Justin Bieber – SWAG, Sabrina Carpenter – Man’s Best Friend, Miley Cyrus – Something Beautiful and Teddy Swims – ‘I’ve Tried Everything But Therapy (Part 2).

She was very emotional as she sweetly recognized her fiancee Michael Polansky during her speech as she said: ‘ I have to say thank you for us my partner, Michael. I love you so much.

‘You are by my side every single day in a way that I can’t thank you enough for, and you worked so hard with me on this record, all year, so I love you, and thank you.’

The couple was first romantically linked around New Year’s Eve 2019 and later went Instagram official in early 2020.

She beat out quite the field including Selena Gomez & benny blanco – Bluest Flame, Zara Larsson – Midnight Sun, Tate McRae – Just Keep Watching (From F1® The Movie), and PinkPantheress – Illegal.

Lady Gaga’s acclaimed pop-rock album MAYHEM helped her earn seven nominations

She was still in shock as she said: ‘I don’t know what I’m going to say because I don’t have any speech prepared! Obviously I don’t. It’s messy, do you know what I mean? I don’t know what to say.

‘Thank you so much! Sorry! I’m very, very grateful for this. We did it! I love you! I love everybody, everybody, everybody.’

Jelly Roll gave perhaps the most boisterous acceptance speech of the night as he earned Best Contemporary Country Album for Beautifully Broken.

The 41-year-old hitmaker beat out Kelsea Ballerini – Patterns, Tyler Childers – Snipe Hunter, Eric Church – Evangeline Vs. The Machine, and Miranda Lambert – Postcards From Texas.

During his powerful acceptance speech he said: ‘ There was a time in my life, y’all, that I was broke in. That’s why I wrote this album. I didn’t think I had a chance. There was days I thought the darkest things. I was a horrible human.’

He brought up his time in prison where all he had was a jail sell, a bible, and a radio.

Jelly Roll finished his speech by saying: ‘I thought music had the power to change my life and God had the power to change my life, and I wanted to tell you right now, Jesus is for everybody. Jesus is not owned by one clinical party. Jesus is not owned by no music label. Jesus is Jesus and anybody can have a relationship with him. I love you, lord.’

The event kicked off with a high-energy performance by Bruno Mars and Rose as they rocked out on smash-hit APT.

One of the more talked about performances will surely be Justin Bieber’s left many viewers perplexed on Sunday night after taking the stage for the first time in four years – shirtless and wearing only gym shorts.

The 31-year-old pop superstar delivered the raw set at the Grammy Awards inside Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena, looping an electric guitar and drum sample for a stripped-down performance of his song Yukon.

As Bieber sang the emotional track, which he has previously revealed was written about his wife, cameras repeatedly cut to Hailey Bieber in the audience as she smiled proudly and cheered him on.

Bieber’s appearance marked his first Grammys performance since 2022, when he performed Peaches alongside Giveon and Daniel Caesar.

Still, it was his wardrobe, or lack thereof, that dominated conversation online.

Reactions on X were sharply divided, with some praising the vulnerability of the performance while others questioned his nearly naked appearance.

‘Such a beautiful and vulnerable performance,’ one fan wrote, while another joked, ‘Just out there in his drawls and socks…’

Others were far less impressed.

‘Justin this is the Grammys and not the beach… just embarrassing,’ one critic posted.

Sharon, Kelly and Jack Osbourne were an emotional sight at the gala as they were seen breaking down in tears during the tribute to Ozzy Osbourne.

The ceremony on Sunday honored the Black Sabbath legend, who passed away six months ago at 76 following a heart attack.

Ozzy’s legacy was celebrated during the ‘In Memoriam’ segment, which included tributes to Roberta Flack, D’Angelo and more, and was highlighted by a powerhouse performance of his Black Sabbath classic War Pigs by Post Malone, Slash, Duff McKagan, Chad Smith and Andrew Watt.

Standing in the audience, the Osbourne family couldn’t hold back tears as the music swelled.

Kelly was visibly shaken, flanked by her mother Sharon, who dabbed at her eyes, and brother Jack, who stared ahead, jaw tight.

The trio’s grief was unmistakable, their expressions reflecting the raw weight of the tribute.

The Grammys ‘In Memoriam’ segment didn’t stop with Ozzy.

Former host of The Daily Show and comedian Trevor Noah then returned as host for the sixth consecutive year, which he claims will be his last.

He fanboyed over plenty of the stars in attendance including Reba McEntire,  Justin Bieber, and Miley Cyrus before roasting Nicki Minaj – who was not in attendance – for her meeting with US President Donald Trump earlier this week.

‘Nicki Minaj is not here,’ he said, before sarcastically adding, ‘She is still at the White House with Donald Trump discussing very important issues.’

Host Trevor Noah took aim at Nicki Minaj and her support of President Donald Trump in his explosive opening monologue at the 2026 Grammy Awards on Sunday night

‘”You know what, Nicki, I have the biggest a**. I have it. Everybody’s saying it, Nicki. I know they say it’s you but it’s me. Wap, wap, wap! Look at it, baby!”‘

The bit earned roaring laughs from the jam-packed arena, as well as some groans as celebrities like Chrissy Teigen, a known Trump critic, nervously looked on from their seats.

Minaj has made headlines in recent days after calling herself Trump’s ‘number one fan.’
