The Gotham TV Awards are set to honor the cast of Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette with this year’s Ensemble Tribute.

The Ryan Murphy executive produced limited series follows the high profile relationship between JFK Jr. (Paul Anthony Kelly) and Bessette (Sarah Pidgeon) before the young married couple died, alongside Bessette’s sister, in a tragic plane crash in 1999.

The show, the most watched limited series on Hulu and Disney+ with more than 80 hours streamed, also explores the public attention surrounding the Kennedy heir and Bessette’s quickly ascending career at Calvin Klein in 1990s New York.

In addition to Pidgeon and Kelly, the Connor Hines-created series, meant to be the first installment in the Love Story anthology and inspired by Elizabeth Beller’s book Once Upon a Time: The Captivating Life of Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy, features Grace Gummer (Caroline Kennedy), Naomi Watts (Jackie Kennedy Onassis), Alessandro Nivola (Calvin Klein), Leila George (Kelly Klein), Sydney Lemmon (Lauren Bessette) and Constance Zimmer (Ann Marie Messina). In addition to Murphy and Hines, executive producers include Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson, Eric Kovtun, Nissa Diederich, Scott Robertson, Monica Levinson, Kim Rosenstock, D.V. DeVincentis and Tanase Popa.

“From Sarah Pidgeon and Paul Anthony Kelly to every member of this brilliant ensemble, each delivers a performance of rare power and authenticity that brings to life a timeless chapter of history in what is, at heart, a love letter to New York,” Jeffrey Sharp, executive director of The Gotham Film & Media Institute, said in a statement. “Love Story has broken records and captivated audiences around the globe because of their work and the creative choices that brought this group together. We’re excited to celebrate the cast and casting directors Courtney Bright and Nicole Daniels behind Love Story at this year’s ceremony.”

Previously announced Gotham TV Awards tribute honorees include Kerry Washington (the Spotlight Tribute), Michelle Pfeiffer (the Legend Tribute), Claire Danes (the Performer Tribute), Matt and Ross Duffer (the Visionary Tribute). The Awards are set to take place on Monday June 1 at Cipriani Wall Street in New York.

Big Mistakes and Death by Lightning lead the nominations for the third annual Gotham TV Awards, with four nods each.
