The Golden Globes leveled up — literally.

When Hollywood steps out en masse for Sunday’s 83rd annual Golden Globes, stars will step up to get inside as the arrivals backdrop is brand new for 2026. In what is already being described by insiders as “the Met Gala-ification” of a night long known as “Hollywood’s biggest party,” there is now a grand staircase built for stars to climb upon arrival. Draped in burgundy carpeting and cascading around a golden champagne-colored platform with floral arrangements hovering above, the scene seems tailor made to boost glamour and create a more elegant experience (with photos to match).

Credit for the overhaul goes to global creative agency Unboxed, a firm with offices in L.A., New York and London, and Mark’s Garden for the floral design. “A design centered around curvature and flow,” reads a post shared on Unbox’s Instagram, which features recent projects like the dramatic and lush world premiere for Hulu’s All’s Fair, The White Lotus premiere, the It: Welcome to Derry premiere and a recent Lady Gaga takeover of Milk Studios for Mayhem. “We literally ELEVATED the red carpet this year.”

Another project from Unboxed president and creative director Kyle Absolom and team that’s necessary to point out here is a “standout moment” the firm did in partnership with Mark’s Garden on the 2024 Oscars red carpet, displaying history with creating memorable awards show red carpet moments. For the Globes, Unboxed collaborated with events and spatial design firm Nouvant with support from Dick Clark Prods.’ creative director Andrew Hammer, vp events and production design Jitter Garcia and vp production Preston Northrop.

The design got its first official reveal Thursday when host Nikki Glaser joined the Golden Globes team of president Helen Hoehne, producers Barry Adelman, Glenn Weiss, chef Nobu Matsuhisa and Beverly Hills mayor Sharona Nazarian for the official red carpet rollout.

The overhaul is the latest upgrade for the Golden Globes. One of the most notable came when the menu leveled up too with the addition of famed chef Nobu Matsuhisa who brought his high-end Japanese cuisine — a celebrity favorite at restaurants like Nobu Malibu — to the Beverly Hilton ballroom in 2024. He returned in 2025, making this weekend’s show his third outing.

But it’s not the only overhaul in the Globes zone. For many years, the Golden Globes red carpet was centered on the Beverly Hilton’s circular driveway and valet headquarters. It created quite the crush of celebrities and media leading into the hotel lobby and the massive international ballroom. That entire space — along with a chunk of the hotel and surrounding plots of land — is under construction as part of a massive construction project from One Beverly Hills that spans 17.5 acres of mixed use properties.

Led by Cain in partnership with OKO Group, the project will feature ten acres of botanical gardens and open space (designed by RIOS), Aman’s first West Coast destination with Aman Beverly Hills (featuring two residential towers, a 78-suite hotel and Aman Club), retail and dining concepts like Dolce & Gabbana, Casa Tua Cucina and Los Mochis along with hospitality, wellness and more public space. Construction began last November with phased completion scheduled for 2027.

Golden Globes producer Dick Clark Productions is owned by Penske Media Eldridge, a joint venture between Penske Media Corporation and Eldridge that also owns The Hollywood Reporter.
