Gogglebox star Raza Siddiqui was hospitalised after cracking his ribs in a horrific fall, his family have shared in an update.

The TV personality has appeared on the show with his two brothers, Umar and Baasit, as well as their father Sid, since it started back in 2013.

The Siddiqui family have become firm favourites in that time, but on Tuesday they took to Instagram to address Raza’s absence so far this season.

They confirmed that Raza had not filmed the first part of the season as he had suffered cracked ribs after a fall, resulting in him being rushed to hospital.

Sharing pictures from his hospital bed, the family confirmed that Raza is ‘smashing’ his recovery and is set to return to Gogglebox later in the series.

Sweet snaps showed Raza cuddling with his nephew Theodore on the sofa, as well bravely smiling from his hospital bed.

The family wrote: ‘For you eagle eyed Goggleboxers, you may have noticed that Raza (@razathefaint) hasn’t joined us on the sofa so far this season.

‘Sadly he had a bit of a fall, a few weeks back and cracked some ribs. He’s recovering nicely and will be joining us on the sofa in a few weeks time.

‘He’s absolutely smashing his recovery, staying positive and keeping himself entertained with walks, telly, reading and nephew cuddles with Theodore.’

They continued: ‘I know you guys reaching out and sending your well wishes will put a bigger smile on his face than morphine ever could.

‘Can’t wait for all four Siddiquis to be back on team @c4gogglebox with the rest of the fab families.’

Last year, the Siddiqui family were flooded with support from Channel 4 fans after an emotional announcement.

Gogglebox icon Baasit revealed on Instagram that, alongside his wife Melissa, were completing the London Marathon.

He wrote: ‘I’ve had the privilege of experiencing running the @londonmarathon before but to have the opportunity to share this experience with my wife is very special!’

Baasit then went on to share how his wife stated running in January last year and that they would be supporting Mind Charity.

Offering an insight to his life away from the Gogglebox fame, he added: ‘For over ten years I worked as a full time teacher and for the last five years I’ve worked across education with teachers, children and families.

‘One thing that continues to be highlighted in all my work is the growing mental health crisis.

‘The work Mind does to raise awareness and smash mental health stigmas has never been more important and I know how prevalent the crisis of mental health challenges is across the education landscape.

‘Whether it’s teacher workload, social media challenges in children or parents mental health struggles due to the cost of living crisis – it’s clear to see people need help more than ever!
