Gayle King is kicking style critics to the curb.
The journalist defended her FIFA World Cup Final 2026 outfit after a publication named her one of the “worst-dressed” from the soccer match.
“My outfit overall was ‘boring and dowdy,’” King said on the Tuesday broadcast of “CBS Mornings,” recounting what the publication — which she chose not to name — said about her look.
“Not only was I on the list, they said I led the list, wearing a ‘frumpy white outfit,’ specifically that I wore a ‘tight, white tank top … paired with some wrinkled, white sweatpants.’”
The Emmy winner defended her look, which she revealed was a Boston Proper tank paired with Alice + Olivia cargo pants.
Although the outlet called her pants wrinkly, the reporter noted that her “favorite son, Will, ironed the pants” for her.
“He said the pockets were a little dicey because [he] doesn’t know how to iron,” she quipped.
“I didn’t realize that the World Cup had become such a fashion show,” King quipped as her co-hosts defended her. “I really didn’t get it, not that I’m sensitive or anything about it.”
She also named the other women on the worst-dressed list, but defended them, saying they all “looked so great.”
“Joining me on the list are Kylie Jenner, who was wearing a black outfit. They called that ‘underwhelming.’ Blake Lively also made the list because she had way too much going on with her look. And model Winnie Harlow — I love this — she was deemed ‘overboard,’ but she also made the best-dressed list, too.”
