A relationship expert has shared her thoughts after Rhian Sugden decision to openly criticise her husband Oliver Mellor on social media.
The lingerie model, 38, blasted the ex Corrie actor, 44, for ‘going out drinking’ while she and their son George, 11-months, were both rushed to A&E over the weekend.
But sex and relationships expert at Lovehoney, Annabelle Knight, has now claimed that this act of public frustration could suggest Rhian has been feeling ‘growing resentment’ towards Oliver.
Annabelle told MailOnline that when a couple start airing their frustrations over social media, ‘it often suggests deeper issues brewing beneath the surface’ – which she said is ‘never a great sign’.
The expert said Rhian could be feeling ‘resentment’ that Oliver wasn’t available to lend emotional and physical support to her through her and their young son’s illness.
She said: ‘In this case, Rhian’s public criticism of Oliver for choosing a night out with friends over supporting her after a health scare suggests she’s feeling undervalued and perhaps even unheard in the relationship.

‘When one partner is unwell or struggling, they typically look for emotional and physical support from their significant other – so if there’s a lack of support, it can give rise to resentment and frustration.’
Annabelle added: ‘The fact that neither of them has posted about each other in weeks could also hint at growing emotional distance.
‘While not everyone chooses to share their relationship online, the sudden change in social media behaviour – especially for a couple that usually does – might mean there are rising tensions between the couple.
‘Whether they’re experiencing a rough patch or something more serious, open and honest communication will be key in resolving these issues before the cracks deepen. I’d also recommend they address their concerns privately, as airing grievances on social media can often escalate tensions rather than resolve them.’
Rhian took to her Instagram Stories on Saturday to hit out at Oliver, whom she wed in 2018, after he opted to head out with his mates rather than ‘helping at home’.
Rhian revealed she’d been rushed to hospital twice with Quinsy – a ‘Victorian disease’ that has left her in ‘absolute agony’, while George had been struck down with possible measles.
She fumed: ‘Anyone else ever been so ill they’ve ended up in A&E twice in two days and yet their husband would rather go out drinking with his mates instead of helping at home, or am I just the unfortunate one?’.
In a fresh update on Sunday morning, Rhian reposted a cryptic and pointed reel to her Story, seemingly directed at Oliver.

The black-and-white video showed a group of people dancing together while audio over the top encouraged viewers to stand up to ‘someone who doubted you’.
It said: ‘Good morning you brilliant beam of f***ing sunshine. Reminder… not a single f*** should be given today.
‘Got someone who doubted you? Smile and remind them, I don’t just rise and shine I f***ing rule and conquer.’
Rhian hasn’t posted a picture of husband Oliver on her Instagram since January, despite hr page being filled with recent snaps.
Meanwhile Oliver’s most recent post is one of him, Rhian and George – however it was four weeks ago.
She also shared an update from bed as she told followers: ‘I’m home for those of you who are asking, but oh my god I am so much worse.
‘They sent me to A&E the other day because it was bad but i feel like its got worse even though I am on strong antibiotics.’
‘I don’t really want to waste a space in hospital and it’s dramatic if I call an ambulance but I am really feel like I am struggling to breathe, I can’t swallow.

‘This is the sorest throat I have ever ever head, give me [giving birth] to a child ten times over than this. And I have a very high pain threshold but this Quinsy, I don’t know what to do with myself.’
She previously shared a photograph of herself in a hospital room to let fans know that her health has taken yet another turn.
She said: ‘So I’ve just been back to the doctors because my throat is in absolute agony. I think I’ve got quite a high pain threshold, but this is something else.
‘I’ve got Quinsy. I thought that was a Victorian disease, but oh my god, if anyone’s ever had it, oh god, I can’t even. It hurts to even open my mouth.’
Rhian captioned the hospital snap of herself: ‘Quinsy: 1, Rhian: 0.’
Oliver and Rhian endured a long journey to conceive and spent over £150,000 to go through eight gruelling rounds of IVF over six years to get pregnant with their son George.
Rhian hit headlines back in in 2010, when she was found to be exchanging racy messages with Vernon Kay – who has been married to Strictly host Tess Daly since 2013.
The TV star pursued Rhian on Twitter, text and email for four months, with the blonde later claiming he also tried to set up a secret liaison with her in a hotel room.

Afterwards, she assured Tess that they never met up alone and it was nothing more than a ‘close friendship and flirty messages’.
Rhian concluded with offering her ‘sincerest apologies’ and wishing the both of them happiness for the future.
Vernon was famously forced to make a public apology to Tess on BBC Radio 1 back in 2010 after the saucy messages came to light.
He went on to promise live on air that he would no longer contact Rhian or the four other women he had been caught messaging at the time.
It was then revealed the pair had got back in touch in 2015 with Vernon sending hundreds of texts asking to ‘reconnect’ with the model.
