Was Taylor Swift the mastermind behind “How Bad Do U Want Me”?
Swifties are convinced that the pop star collaborated with Lady Gaga on the dreamy track off the latter’s seventh studio album.
Since “Mayhem” began streaming Friday, Swift’s fans have theorized that she provided background vocals.
While the 35-year-old is not credited on the song, one social media user wrote, “I always hear Taylor when I listen to this song.”
Others, however, called the sound “clearly” Gaga.
One listener speculated that Swift “secretly wrote” the tune, explaining, “the production? the vocal style? the lyrics?? it’s screaming 2014-2019 Taylor so bad.”
Whether the “Cruel Summer” singer participated in the track’s production or not, many referred to it as a “straight up Taylor Swift song.”
One Swiftie called the release “Gaga playing in Taylor’s vault,” while another claimed it was a “parody.”
Reps for the stars have yet to respond to Page Six’s requests for comment.
While the Grammy winners have not worked together before, Gaga gushed to Vogue last year about “cry[ing]” happy tears over Swift and other performers’ successes.
“I watch it all, and I’m like, ‘Yup. Go! Just go,’” the “Just Dance” singer, 38, said in her September 2024 cover story. “I’m not only cheering them on, I want them to know that my heart is in it with them.
“I want them all to feel really happy,” she continued.
Notably, Swift made headlines for coming to Gaga’s defense three months prior over pregnancy speculation.
After Gaga clapped back at rumors in a June 2024 TikTok video, Swift agreed that comments were “invasive & irresponsible.”
The songwriter added, “Gaga doesn’t owe anyone an explanation & neither does any woman.”
