Soft, pillowy and delicate — all the reasons why we love Japanese bakes.

It’s little wonder why social media is already abuzz with news of the arrival of I’m Donut? in Singapore.

The popular bakery chain from Japan teased its Singapore debut in an Instagram post on Monday (Sept 28), sharing a photo of a hoarding bearing its iconic question mark logo.

It also appears to be keeping details to a minimum, with the caption simply saying: “Singapore? 2026 — Coming soon.”

No further details have been shared so far.

The teaser quickly garnered attention from Singaporeans, with some already bracing themselves for long queues.

In a Reddit thread posted on the same day, one user pointed to the chain’s popularity overseas, saying: “The one in Korea had like a two-hour wait. This will be worse.”

Another said: “If they can maintain their standards, the queues are going to be real long.”

Founded by Chef Ryouta Hirako, I’m Donut? started in Japan in 2022.

It is known for its nama doughnuts, known for having a “melt-in-your-mouth” texture.

The bakery’s offerings come in a variety of flavours, including Matcha, Custard, Original and more.

I’m Donut? currently has 15 stores in Japan, as well as overseas outlets in New York City, Taipei and Seoul.

It has recently started expanding into Southeast Asia — with its first store in the region opening at The Exchange TRX in Kuala Lumpur earlier this month (Sept 12) and another set to open in Jakarta in October.

The brand is known to offer country-exclusive flavours too.

At the Kuala Lumpur outlet, I’m Donut? rolled out 16 Malaysia-exclusive flavours including Milo, Cham, Pandan and Coconut.

Over in the New York City outlet, there are PB&J, Sake Cream and Pumpkin Cheesecake, among other flavours, exclusive to them.
