Kylie Jenner and Jennifer Lopez were among the mourners at Jesus Guerrero’s funeral, Us Weekly can confirm.
“Kylie and J.Lo lovingly showed up to pay their respects,” the late hairstylist’s sister, Gris Guerrero, exclusively told Us on Monday, March 31. “Kylie was with us when we laid him to rest for the burial.”
Lopez, 55, stayed for the funeral service that took place in Houston, Texas, on Sunday, March 30, more than one month after Jesus’ sudden death at the age of 34.
“We wanted to honor him and all the lives he touched because he touched so many lives,” Gris told Us. “He came from immigrant parents with little to nothing and he chased his dreams and he made friends along the way and he kept them along the way.”
Gris added that donations from a GoFundMe account she set up to cover her brother’s funeral costs “really helped.” Kylie, 27, helped pay for “most of the funeral home expenses to put him to rest,” she said.
Meanwhile, “Katy Perry generously helped with making sure we could have security to keep our grieving private and sent her loving support even though she couldn’t come.”
In an exclusive interview with Us earlier this year, Gris praised Jenner and Lopez for supporting Jesus’ family following his death.
“Jesus was family to [Kylie], and she was family to him,” Gris told Us in an interview published February 25. “She has kept an open line. Anything we need, any questions we have, she has been there for us. She wants his memory to be honored and wants to do as much as she can so he gets the farewell he deserves.”
Lopez had also reached out and “talked us through everything that she could, along with others that were there,” Gris noted at the time.
Jenner memorialized Jesus via her Instagram on February 25, describing him as “more than my friend.”
“He was a light in my life, a source of laughter, comfort, love, and unwavering support. I don’t know how I would have made it through the last almost decade without him by my side. He had a way of making even the heaviest days feel lighter,” Jenner wrote.
She continued, “Thank you, Jesus, for always being there for me, for lifting me up, for being my friend. The pain of losing you is just unbearable and i don’t know how to move forward without you but I know great grief is born only of great love. and I loved you so much. You were the best person, with a talent that was unmatched. a true artist. You inspired so many, and you always will.”
Lopez, for her part, took to Instagram with her own tribute to the stylist, writing, “It’s no surprise your mother gave you the name Jesus. You were gentle and kind and loving, quiet and unassuming, but so powerful, and your presence was felt the minute you walked into any room.”
She added: “You never demanded the spotlight. You never needed to make a sound to be recognized, your heart and your talent did that as effortlessly as your artistry did.”
