Several Australian adult entertainers have weighed in on Sydney Sweeney’s portrayal as a racy content creator on Euphoria after it was branded ‘desperate and dumb’.

Earlier this month, HBO aired the drama’s season three premiere, which was widely panned for its ‘nasty’ scenes involving Sweeney’s character Cassie Howard.

The second episode, titled America My Dream, left some fans appalled as they questioned why Sweeney continued to be ‘degraded’ in fetish scenes.

Sweeney was captured posing for a series of provocative photos for her OF account, including a graphic shot featuring ice cream dripping down her nude cleavage after the previous episode saw her dressed as a dog.

OnlyFans stars Emily Mai, 35, and Taila Maddison, 30, told Daily Mail they believe that Sweeney’s portrayal as a ‘desperate’ adult star in the series has missed the mark on so many things in their industry.

‘I think the media always needs something really “out there” to catch people’s attention. They need good ratings and views. So rather than showcasing what sex work is really about, they have found really controversial niches,’ Emily said.

Several Australian adult entertainers have weighed in on Sydney Sweeney’s portrayal as a racy content creator on Euphoria

OnlyFans stars Emily Mai, 35, and Taila Maddison, 30, told Daily Mail they believe that Sweeney’s portrayal as a ‘desperate’ adult star on the Jacob Elordi series missed the mark on so many things in their industry

She added that in order to attract viewers, shows like Euphoria heavily focus on the sensationalised aspects of the adult industry.

‘It is a very small part of it. They have made it look like that’s all we all do it. Like Sydney’s character barking like a puppy. She is portrayed as this dumb girl who just does what the guys want her to do.’ Emily added.

‘Of course she is gonna dress up like a sexy little puppy, bark and be submissive.’

She added that in real life OnlyFans stars never have to comply with strange requests, and only give their followers content they feel comfortable sharing.

‘A lot of real-life content creators choose what niches, fetishes and kinks to explore, based on their own boundaries. A lot of us will say no to certain things because we are not comfortable with it, or it is not something we enjoy doing,’ she said.

‘There is no autonomy in the TV show. They are dressing us up as babies.’

Emily added that one TV myth she wanted to challenge was its frequent portrayal OnlyFans stars as ‘desperate’ – insisting that many actually found the work empowering.

‘A lot of people are uncomfortable with a woman expressing her sexuality, demanding payment. A lot of people will go on PornHub, but won’t pay a woman for her time! It’s the stigma of a woman owning her own body and getting compensated for her time,’ she said.

Top OnlyFans star Annie Knight said while she appreciated seeing her industry depicted on-screen, what she really wanted was a more accurate portrayal

Fellow OnlyFans star Taila Maddison, 30, said that while she did not take particular issue with Sweeney’s work on Euphoria, she found its focus on high-profile kinks to be amusingly unrealistic.

‘I’m not upset about it. I’ve seen other stars complain, like “I can’t believe they are portraying it as just kinks It’s not what we do!” It’s not JUST what we do, but it is one of our biggest money-makers!’ Taila said.

She revealed that she often received a number of bizarre requests from her customers, which were not that far removed from what Sweeney’s character was seen doing on the HBO series.

‘Today I have a request where I have to eat takeaway, have a soft drink and just sit down and talk to the subscriber over video. He wants me to get really bloated!’ Taila explained.

She added that while Euphoria might not be completely realistic in its portrayal, she appreciated the series for showcasing the emerging industry.

‘I feel like without people knowing we do these things then it is a little bit vanilla. People get upset about it, and I’m like, “why?” It shows there are people out there doing a lot more than just having sex!’ she said.

Top OnlyFans star Annie Knight added that while she appreciated seeing her industry depicted on-screen, what she really wanted was a more accurate portrayal.

‘Anytime an OnlyFans star is portrayed, it is not accurate. There needs to be a lot more work done to make us realistic. I know they want to add drama, but you can do that without making us look dumb, or making it look like we hate the industry,’ she said.

Meanwhile, OF veteran star Alex Paige Moore said that TV producers should cast real-life content creators on TV shows addressing this topic

Aussie viewers have been taking a very different stance to the growing American backlash over the explicit content in season three of Euphoria , with many saying the outrage says more about cultural attitudes in the US than the show itself

Meanwhile, OnlyFans veteran star Alex Paige Moore said TV portrayals of the adult content industry is sorely lacking the real-life stories of those who are actually in the industry.

‘I would like to see people who currently have an OnlyFans page play these roles and have some creative direction in how they are portrayed. Obviously, we are the ones who do it, we are the ones who know how it happens,’ she said.

She added that to increase its authenticity, producers should cast real-life content creators on TV shows addressing this topic.

‘Give us some of those acting roles, that would be cool! I feel like a lot of girls in the industry are great at acting… It is part of our job!’ she said.
