Eva Mendes did Christmas in style.
Sharing two selfies after the holiday, she “survived being Santa Mama,” adding, “I was hurting all of Xmas day – but I did it!”
The mom of two with partner Ryan Gosling knows that the struggle is real during the holidays.
Wearing red tartan plaid pajamas, a lit-up tree blurry in the background, Mendes’ updo is slightly disheveled and her eye makeup delivering next-day smokey vibes.
“I actually do my eye makeup on Christmas Eve since I know I will barely sleep that night so at least I wake up with some eyes,” the actress jokingly wrote in her Instagram caption.
“Happy holidays to all those that – no matter what the obstacle – make X mas magical for the kids,” she added.
Though the beauty hack was meant as a joke, the sentiment was real, sending her fans into a flurry and filling her comments with words of support.
“You don’t have any idea what this post means to me,” wrote one. “Mommas are truly superheroes. Cheers to us!” wrote another. “This is real strength and real beauty,” one fan added.
A few days prior, Mendes and Gosling were spotted out on a rare outing with their children. The family is typically quite private when it comes to public appearances and social media shares.
E! News reported that the actress explained, “I have always had a clear boundary when it comes to my man and my kids. I’ll talk about them, of course, with limits, but I won’t post pictures of our daily life.”
She continued, “Since my children are still so little and don’t understand what posting their image really means, I don’t have their consent. And I won’t post their image until they’re old enough to give me consent.”
On December 15, Mendes spoke about “creating a full-on experience” for her kids on Christmas, sharing stories of growing up and celebrating with her family.
“We didn’t have much,” she wrote, “But my Mami always managed to make Christmas so special. I remember she’d go into debt after every Christmas, but somehow she managed to make it happen again the next year.”
