Erika Jayne hoped her estranged husband, Tom Girardi, would “die” before facing prison time for embezzlement.
The reality star made the grim confession during Thursday’s episode of the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” telling co-star Sutton Stracke that she is still “heartbroken” over Girardi’s fate.
“I said this to somebody the other day, I just kind of hoped he’d die before he’d go to prison, just so he could get it over with,” Jayne, 54, admitted.
The singer added that it “f—king sucks” knowing that the former attorney will most likely die in prison. The 86-year-old, who is battling Alzheimer’s disease, was sentenced in June to a little over seven years.
“To see him walk down the courtroom steps like that knowing he’s going to die in prison, that’s heavy on any level,” Jayne said.
She also shared she had mixed emotions about whether she wanted to say goodbye to her ex as he entered a federal prison, which she ended up not doing.
“I don’t know, but I’ve thought that exact same thing, ‘What do I do?’” she said.
In 2020, the Bravolebrity filed for divorce from Girardi after 21 years of marriage.
A mental evaluation performed in February 2021 then confirmed that Girardi was suffering from late-onset Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.
By February 2023, the disbarred attorney had been sued for embezzling more than $15 million from his clients, including stealing settlement funds from the families of the victims of the fatal 2018 Lion Air flight — and was later found guilty.
He was accused of using the money to fund his and Jayne’s once-lavish lifestyle, but she has been largely exonerated of any wrongdoing and was dismissed from the suit.
In June, a Los Angeles judge ruled that Girardi will serve seven years and three months behind bars. He was given the sentence on his 86th birthday.
Page Six reported that Girardi began serving his sentence in July.
Since filing for divorce, Jayne has moved on with Hollywood bodyguard John McPhee.
