Sunghoon, a member of K-pop group Enhypen, has been selected as a torchbearer in the Olympic Torch relay ahead of the 2026 Olympics. The group’s song, “Shout Out,” has also been selected as the South Korean Olympic team’s official cheer song.
The 23-year-old singer was invited by Samsung Electronics to participate in the relay for the upcoming Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, according to a release from the group’s label Belift Labs. It has not yet been announced when or where he’ll will join the relay.
Sunghoon is not the first K-pop idol to participate in an Olympic relay, however, the move holds hefty significance given the singer was previously a competitive figure skater in his home country. Prior to debuting in boy group Enhypen in 2020, he was a member of South Korea’s national reserve team. He has also served as a promotional ambassador for the Korean Sport and Olympic Committee since 2025.
“I know how much passion and effort national athletes have put into preparing for the Winter Olympics, and I sincerely want to support and cheer for them,” Sunghoon said in a statement. “Competing in the Olympics was once my dream as an athlete, so being connected to that dream now as a singer is truly meaningful and an incredible honor.”
Hailing from Korean entertainment company Belift Lab (a subsidiary of entertainment conglomerate Hybe), Enhypen is comprised of seven members — Jungwon, Heeseung, Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunoo and Ni-ki. The group was formed through the music survival series I-Land. The series, a joint venture between Hybe and Korean entertainment giant CJ ENM, aired on the CJ ENM-owned channel Mnet in South Korea. Enhypen’s latest album, The Sin: Vanish, landed them No. 2 on this week’s Billboard 200 chart.
