Emmerdale’s Isabel Hodgins has revealed she was left ‘exhausted’ during her final scenes as she prepares for motherhood.

The actress, 32, who is known as Victoria Sugden on the soap joined aged 12, announced she and husband Adam Whitehead are expecting their first child back in August last year.

And while Isabel said she thought she would be ‘really emotional’ leaving the soap for maternity, she has now revealed she felt ‘ready to leave’.

She told The Sun: ‘I thought I would be really emotional when I filmed my final scenes.

‘Emmerdale is all I have ever known. But pregnancy does funny things to you, and the truth is, I felt ready not to have to film on Emmerdale!

‘I live in Manchester, and I’ve been driving over to Leeds to film. By the end, I felt exhausted and I knew it was time to have a rest before the baby arrives.’

Isabel filmed her final scenes in December and added she is ‘excited’ for motherhood.

She explained during her pregnancy, she felt unwell at the beginning, but this soon eased out and she had to battle with cravings instead.

Before her leave, Isabel, who is due to give birth imminently, told The Mirror: ‘It’s something that we wanted to happen, but now it actually has, it’s still sinking in!’.

The soap star said she was so shocked after reading the positive pregnancy test, she and PE teacher Adam rushed out and buy three more just to be sure it was correct.

‘Originally, we booked a wedding for 2026, but then I realised I didn’t want to wait that long to start a family. But I also wanted to be married first, so I kept changing the goal posts, but this was always the plan!’.

However, it was not been plain sailing for the mother-to-be during her first trimester as she also battled fatigue and mood swings.

‘I didn’t know what to expect, but I think it has been tougher than I thought because it’s been a bit of a roller-coaster. But luckily, I haven’t been very sick, so that’s a plus’.

Taking to Instagram the actress said: ‘First comes love, Then comes marriage, Then comes… Baby Whitehead’.

Fans and her famous soap co-stars were quick to rush to the comments to congratulate the couple.

Bradley Riches, who plays Lewis Barton, said: ‘AHHH CONGRATS XOXO’.

While Mandy Dingle actress Lisa Riley wrote: ‘Congratulations-absolutely wonderful news, made up for you both’.

Daisy Campbell, who played Amelia Spencer added: ‘Omg iz!! So happy for you both, big congratulations’.

While Eden Taylor Draper, who plays Belle Dingle, commented: ‘She’s a mommy, mamacita’, alongside Charley Webb who said: ‘cutest’.

Isabel and Adam tied the knot in April 2025 at the swanky Castlefield Rooms in Manchester, surrounded by family and friends.
