Emily Blunt has revealed that she never expected to be an actress after a bad stutter left her thinking it was ‘completely out of reach’.
The actress, 42, confessed that growing up, she was a ‘shy kid’ and had difficulty speaking while growing up, according to the Mirror.
She explained that because of her ‘bad stutter’ she believed that a job which involved a lot of speaking was ‘out of reach’ for her.
Emily told the publication: ‘I was quite a shy kid. I had a really bad stutter so I didn’t speak that readily.
‘So to end up in a job where I would have to speak was sort of completely out of reach for me.’
This may shock fans as she has seen a very successful career in acting as she has starred in The Devil Wears Prada, A Quiet Place and The Smashing Machine.

And her appreciation for the craft of acting has been a focal point for her in recent months.
Her confession comes after she branded AI-generated actress Tilly Norwood ‘terrifying’ and begged talent agencies not to sign her.
AI talent studio Xicoia created the digital performer, a young brunette actress, with Eline Van der Velden unveiling the project at the Zurich Film Festival.
Tilly has started attracting interest from talent agents, and Smashing Machine actress Emily confessed she is horrified at the prospect.
Shown a report on Tilly, Emily told Variety: ‘Does it disappoint me? I don’t know how to quite answer it, other than to say how terrifying this is.
‘No, are you serious? That’s an AI? Good Lord, we’re screwed. That is really, really scary.
‘Come on, agencies, don’t do that. Please stop. Please stop taking away our human connection.’
Emily was told that Tilly was designed to resemble a composite of familiar stars and was told she was designed as ‘the next Scarlett Johansson’.
She explained that because of her ‘bad stutter’ she believed that a job which involved a lot of speaking was ‘out of reach’ for her (pictured in The Devil Wears Prada in 2006)
To which Emily replied: ‘But we have Scarlett Johansson.’
And she wasn’t the only Hollywood star voicing their criticisms.
Scream actress Melissa Barrera branded the arrival of Tilly ‘gross’ as she posted an Instagram Story about the news.
She captioned it: ‘Hope all actors repped by the agent that does this, drop their a$. How gross, read the room.(sic)’
