Former TVB actress Janice Pang is now a full-time taxi driver.

The 33-year-old, who left TVB in July, told HK01 that she’s earning a more stable income now.

“It’s easier to make a living than being an actress. Being an actress is quite tough,” she told the Hong Kong publication.

While her main reason for leaving TVB after nine years was the expiration of her contract, there were other factors at play.

“Pursuing dreams has a time limit. I’m getting older now, so I have to bow to reality. Maybe if fate allows, I’ll have another chance to work in the entertainment industry,” she said.

Janice shared that she has always enjoyed driving.

She reportedly began working as a part-time taxi driver in 2023 while juggling her showbiz career.

Although the hours are long, the cabby told HK01 that she likes how working more means earning more.

After deducting rental and fuel costs, Janice takes home about HK$2,000 (S$330) a day, which is more than what she used to earn at TVB.

“I used to be quite thrifty and was happy just to afford two meals a day. Now, I can buy a couple more clothes and dress up,” she said.

Janice wears a mask while driving, but there are passengers who still recognise her. When this happens, she thanks them for their support.

While she’s focused on making money now, Janice said: “No matter what you do, the most important thing is to do what you like.”

Janice, who made her showbiz debut in 2017, is best known for dramas such as Come Home Love: Lo And Behold (2017) and Legal Mavericks 2020 (2020).
