Dylan Wang is threatening legal action against parties who have allegedly circulated false information about him.
The Chinese singer-actor, who turns 28 in December, was recently embroiled in rumours claiming he had undergone a failed genital enlargement procedure through injections.
His studio released a statement on Weibo on Sept 16, firmly denying the allegations and threatening legal action.
It wrote: “Recently, we discovered that certain users online have maliciously fabricated false chat logs concerning Dylan.
“These fabrications have been recklessly disseminated via private channels and various social media platforms with the deliberate intent to smear and defame him, thereby severely damaging Dylan’s personal reputation and causing a detrimental impact online.
“We will not tolerate or yield to this sudden act of infringement involving the fabrication of rumours. We have already completed the notarisation of evidence today and immediately reported the matter to the public security authorities.”
The studio added that a legal team has been engaged to handle the case and urged the public to “refrain from spreading false information”.
The matter reportedly blew up after a Weibo user took the WeChat chat logs and posted them online. They subsequently deleted the post and claimed they had only “followed the trend” even though they had no knowledge of its veracity.
Dylan, who is best known for dramas such as Meteor Garden (2018), Love Between Fairy and Devil (2022) and Guardians of the Dafeng (2024), is currently filming Empress Reborn, a series that also stars Chinese actress Meng Ziyi.
His streetwear brand D.Desirable was recently reported to be opening its first outlet outside of China in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
