A man’s gotta do what a man’s gotta do … where a man’s gotta do it.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson admitted to urinating in bottles on the set of his upcoming Christmas movie, “Red One.”
In April, The Wrap published an article claiming the actor was so chronically late to set that he ended up costing production $250 million to push back the film’s release.
Due to his alleged frequent tardiness, the outlet claimed Johnson would often relieve himself in bottles to avoid further delays.
“I pee in a bottle [while working],” he confessed to GQ in a profile published Monday. “Yeah, that happens.”
When asked about “the ‘late’ part of the story,” Johnson, 52, admitted, “Yeah, that happens, too. But not that amount, by the way. That was a bananas amount. That’s crazy. Ridiculous.”
According to the former WWE Superstar, the overall controversy was “bulls–t,” but he’s not the only one who feels that way.
Jake Kasdan, who directed “Red One,” told GQ that Johnson “never missed a day of work ever. He has a lot going on. He can be late sometimes, but such is Hollywood — that’s the case with everybody.”
Kasdan went on to note that he’s “made three big movies with” Johnson, and he’s “never seen him be anything but great to every single person on the set.”
Chris Evans, Johnson’s co-star in the film, also spoke to the outlet to set the record straight.
“In terms of the guy that I saw, compared to some of the things I’ve seen on other movies with other actors who are not only not conscious of other people’s time and efforts, but they’re unpredictable? I found Dwayne to be — we all know exactly what he’s going to do when he’s going to do it,” Evans shared.
The actor, 43, acknowledged that the athlete would work out in the mornings before coming to set, but he insisted that everyone involved with “Red One” knew that.
“It’s not like he’s late unexpectedly, and I wouldn’t even call it late. He comes in slightly later on certain mornings, but it’s part of the plan,” Evans said.
“It’s worked into the schedules and everyone knows it, so he shows up when he’s scheduled to show up.”
Johnson, who told GQ that he’s always willing to “tell you the truth,” has previously copped to the bizarre bathroom habit.
“I do pee in my water bottles, but let me give context to that,” he told Esquire in November 2021.
“It’s not a water bottle that I’ve actually purchased solely for water that you wash and clean when you’re done using it; these are just bottles that I’m no longer using. Usually, the gyms that I work out in don’t have a bathroom because they’re the iron paradise. They’re just hot, sweaty and dirty.”
He continued, “I usually stay pretty hydrated; I need to go to the bathroom — not a lot, but probably a couple of times during every workout, so I break out the bottle.”
In September 2017, Johnson even accidentally shared a glimpse of one of his pee-filled bottles during a gym session.
“I realize you just saw my big bottle of pee,” he told his Instagram followers in a selfie-style video at the time. “I go hardcore when I train. I find a bottle, I pee in it and I keep training like a beast.”
